Will this 43mm solar filter fit these Canon lenses: RF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM Lens ; RF 100-400mm f/5.6-8 IS USM Lens?
Asked by: Robert Dale
The Tiffen Solar ND Filter (43mm, 18-Stop, Special 50th Anniversary Edition) is too small to thread in to both of the lenses mention above. This filter is design to fit a front thread of 43mm only. Your Canon RF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM Lens has a 77mm front thread while Canon RF 100-400mm f/5.6-8 IS USM Lens has a 67mm front threads. Tiffen makes the same filter in both of size.

Is this filter suitable for the upcoming eclipse 10/14/23?
Asked by: Donna
The Tiffen Solar ND Filter (95mm, 18-Stop, Special 50th Anniversary Edition) (B&H# TI95CND54) is absolutely suitable for photographing any annular solar eclipse such as the one on October 14, 2023 (and future such annular solar eclipses), as well as any total solar eclipse such as the one on April 8, 2024 -- and later ones, too, in 2026, 2028, etc. As with any similar photography (rather than optical viewing) style filter, the image would then be viewed using electronic means such as in digital live view mode when using a DSLR (rather than using the optical viewfinder) or with any mirrorless camera using its digital viewfinder or rear digital screen.

Is this Solar filter ISO 12312-2 certified?
Asked by: Robert E
Unfortunately, the Tiffen Solar ND Filter (95mm, 18-Stop, Special 50th Anniversary Edition) is not ISO 12312-2 certified. It should not be used to look directly at the sun with our eyes. It can be used for the camera to take a photo of the sun. Look only in the LCD live view to compose the photo. Do not look in an optical viewfinder.
