3 Legged Thing AirHed Trinity Reviews

Quirky but perfect for me

Nice little head, will be bringing it with me on my latest trip, very small and light, perfect fro my new XE5, would not put a heavy camera on it, but seems really smooth for video, locks tight for photo. Using it on a Photo Clam PT124 tripod

Lightweight, but weird issues with panning

Bought this as a lightweight option for outdoor video work where being able to pan and tilt smoothly is important. This thing is definitely lightweight and feels well built for how tiny it is. My main gripe is that there is some sort of weird tension on the panning knob that causes issues with keeping on subject. Example if you tilt the camera down, and have the panning knob not tightened down entirely (so that you could pan smoothly if needed), then it causes the head to pan left/right on its own accord. It's very strange, and almost feels defective. Additionally, the tilt function is very much all or nothing. If your rig has any sort of weight to it (I was using about a 4-5 lb setup), it won't hold position unless it's really cranked down, which means you really can't tilt smoothly and then let go of the handle, otherwise you'll be pointing at the ground pretty much instantly. I really like my tripod from these guys, and I really want to like this head, but I'm not sure if mine is either defective, or if this is really only good for something as lightweight as a cell phone or something.

What is the best way to adjust for very smooth panning and tilting?

The 3 Legged Thing AirHed Trinity Pan & Tilt Video Head (Moss Green) does not provide precise panning and tilting capabilities like a fluid head video tripod.
