Blackmagic Design ATEM Micro Panel Overview

Take the ATEM Software Control interface and turn it into a physical switcher with the Blackmagic Design ATEM Micro Live Stream Switcher Panel. The panel is designed to emulate the exact layout of the software with two rows of ten input buttons for both preview and program, transition controls, a macro key, and an onboard fader. This allows you to facilitate both manual and automatic control over your broadcast.

High-quality backlit buttons and a low-profile manual transition fader emulate the design of the larger ATEM Advanced Panels. The Micro Panel features a USB-C port to connect to your personal computer with ATEM Software Control. You can even wirelessly connect using the internal Bluetooth 5.1 LE signal. A large internal battery keeps the panel going for long production days and can be turned on and off with an onboard switch.

Blackmagic Design ATEM Micro Panel Reviews

Small footprint but could be more flexible.

This is a very small controller. Only just bigger than a standard keyboard, which is ideal for the small control space I bought it for. I do wish the buttons were more flexible/assignable in the actual ATEM software. Being able to change which ME the P/P rows are controlling would be especially nice, since I have it paired with a 4ME model. Fortunately, Bitfocus Companion software lets you do quite a lot more with it.

It is a good control panel, but not perfect

Overall, it is a good quality control panel that fits my needs nicely. I am glad I bought it. But, it isn't perfect. There are a couple things I wish it had, and it isn't as reliable as I would like. I own a small event production company that does video for a variety of different kinds of events in various venues. This control panel is used as part of a compact flypack, which gets packed up and deployed at different events. Pros- 1) The buttons are high-quality, taking a decent amount of force to actuate. This is nice as you can rest your fingers on the buttons without having to worry about accidentally pressing them. Each press is intentional, which reduces mistakes. 2) It is the perfect width to fit on a sliding rack shelf, and not so tall that in need more than 1U of rackspace. Basically, the perfect size for a compact mobile setup. 3) The buttons are extremely configurable through the software, you can select exactly which input corresponds to which button. 4) It is so much nicer to switch using a real control panel that is meant for this purpose compared to keyboard shortcuts, software, or 3rd party multi-purpose controls. Cons- 1) The ATEM software doesn't need to be in focus for the control panel to work, but there have been a couple conditions in which the panel has stopped responding. One of these was while running the Xair control software, bringing up the tape player/recorder window causes the control panel to stop responding. Similarly, the panel stopped responding when I got a windows update notification. 2) A couple of times, out of nowhere, the panel went dark and stopped responding. Unplugging and reconnecting the USB cable fixed it immediately, but this has happened twice now. 3) Not a big deal, but there is no dedicated fade-to-black button. For me, pressing the big FTB button at the end of a long show is almost a kind of tradition, so I miss having it.
