Connect your 12G-SDI broadcast studio camera to SMPTE-2110 IP systems over long distances with this 2110 IP Mini BiDirect 12G SFP Converter from Blackmagic Design. The converter allows you to send up to UHD 4K 12G-SDI camera video and program return using the same converter, and it is so compact it can easily be mounted on your camera rig. It features an SFP connection for optical fiber to connect over long distances. The converter also features a 5-pin XLR talkback headset and a press-to-talk button to keep communication between camera operators and the broadcast production booth.

Can a 5pin XLR to Ethernet adapter be used to pass RS422 through the talkback port? Essentially can it be converted to ethernet?

No, the Blackmagic Design 2110 IP Mini BiDirect 12G SFP Converter cannot intake an RS-422 via the 5-pin talkback port.

Can this be used with the new Pyxis cameras?

The Black Magic Pyxis presently does not have support for SMPTE-2110 IP output via RJ-45. But the cameas SDI output could be used if you want to convert to SMPTE-2110 IP using the Blackmagic Design 2110 IP Mini BiDirect 12G Converter.

If I have 3 of these set up at 3 studio cameras, I would need 3 at the mixer. How would I use Talkback for the 3 operators?

Can you use this to connect a Micro Studio G2 into a Blackmagic Studio Converter?

No, the Blackmagic Design 2110 IP Mini BiDirect 12G Converter is currently not supported when working with the Blackmagic Design Micro Studio camera models. The Micro Studio Camera 4K G2 supports only traditional SDI CCU with 2xSDI cable connection to an ATEM switcher.
