I LOVED BH for great product selection and quick shipping. Recently they switched to DHL for their shipping and in spite of being 1 hour away from their Florence NJ warehouse it now takes over a week to get my items. Very disappointed in BH for using DHL. next day shipments used to be the overwhelming reason I purchased from BH.

I bought this to support an artist's pochade box, which has some heft to it, and mounts horizontally.  The control knurl for the ball adjustment is much easier to use than common round ones.  Also, the QR plate has a clamp rather than turn-knob tightener. You can additionally fine-tune the width of the QR receiving plate by using an included tiny allen wrench, which allows a broader range of standard plates to be used. The price was modest, and if it works well and lasts a while, great. If not, I've learned a lot about tripod ball heads for use with pochade boxes.
