Tiffen Multicoated UV Protection Filter Reviews
does the job
for years I have used another brand of filter, but the current reviews were not as good as Tiffen and they were higher priced. Good filter for a good price. B&H always gives good service.
NOT Multicoated
I purchased two of these filters. One did not appear to be coated at all, and the second seemed to have only a single coating on each side. That was my initial impression by just looking at the filters. I verified these initial observations by observing the amount of light reflected by a light beam shined into each filter. One reflected as much light as a typical Tiffen uncoated filter, and the other reflected as much light as from a German filter that only claimed to have a single coating on each side. Also I compared these filters to the Tiffen Multicoated Polarizing filter, purchased at the same time. This filter was indeed Multicoated, as claimed, from initial impression, and by observing it reflected almost NO light from a light beam shined into it, just as a German Multicoated filter reflected no light. So if you want an American made Multicoated UV/ pol filter set, DO NOT BUY these Tiffen “Multicoated” filters, because THEY ARE NOT MULTICOATED. Instead, buy the Tiffen DIGITAL HT filters, which are indeed MULTICOATED as claimed, if you are ok with the Titanium color rings.
