    I am having issues with the ARM processor. Having trouble getting programs to install or can't get them installed at all. Syncing with other devices is a problem which I have not been able to work out yet. Microsoft programs all run OK. I can't get my Brother printers installed which is a real problem. I would suggest to carryfully think about what you want to use your computer for prior to buying a ARM processor.

    Excellent Update for the Traveling Photographer

    As an engineer turned photographer in retirement, PC's have always been my choice for anything more than simply reading emails and surfing the Internet, and one of my main programs is not yet available in a mobile version for any system. When it became obvious that my old Surface Pro 4 battery had reached terminal age, and Windows had moved to a more secure version, the need for an updated device became obvious and the brand new Surface Laptop line was the first place to look. I had always been a bit dissatisfied with the Surface Pro because it tries to be both a tablet and a laptop and compromises both, so returning to a full laptop for work while traveling seemed a natural choice despite the somewhat greater weight. This machine helps the weight problem by providing two USB-C ports, which eliminate the need for a powered hub for downloading image files and simultaneously backing them up on an external device, or eliminates the need for the dedicated charger when a powered hub is used since the connected USB-C port can then provide the power needed to maintain the battery charge. My only issue here is with the operating system - getting used to the new Windows will take some time, but functionally everything seems very familiar and the image downloads and simultaneous backups are much faster than the old system or any non-Windows tablet I have tried. I like the keyboard feel and the touch screen as a backup, but I still use the portable (folding) mouse from my old system because I can work much faster using a mouse. I chose the 'Dune' color because I wanted to have my machine instantly recognizable in a group environment; this color is a bit brighter than I expected, certainly not traditional, but it does serve the recognition purpose and an added benefit is that it stays cooler than black in strong sunlight.
