Designed to improve the performance of the company's ADI-2 Series converters in critical applications, the RME DPS-2 is a superlow-noise linear audio power supply offering two differently filtered DC outputs: Linear and proprietary µFilter with Sensor technology. A two-stage high-frequency filter and DC filter on the AC mains side ensure optimum performance without interference noise.
The housing and front panel of the DPS-2 are based on the ADI-2 series, accommodating RME's innovative circuitry design in a half-rack chassis. Two DC Sensor connection cables with lockable and nonlockable DC plug 2.1 x 5.5mm (3.3') are included.
Two DC Outputs: Linear and µFilter with Sensor Technology
- The Linear DC output is a traditional DC output, but equipped with multistage passive and active filtering including a 30,000 μF capacitor bank, a ferrite choke, and an active output filter with a hybrid voltage regulator.
- The μFilter DC output is based on RME's proprietary μFilter technology. Here the signal from the prefiltered Linear output is also processed by highly efficient active filters to achieve an exceptionally clean DC output with just a few µV (microvolts) of noise. In addition, the output has Sensor technology, which measures and adapts the output voltage directly at the DC connector of the supplied DC cable.
- As a result, the output impedance and load regulation are extremely low, thus ensuring a clean output voltage of +12.0 VDC at 2.5A load, completely avoiding any load-dependent voltage drops.
- Note: only one output is usable at a time.
Interference- and Hum-Free Operation
- The DPS-2 uses both a two-stage HF filter and DC filter on the AC-mains side to suppress interference noise.
- It also employs a 60 VA audio toroidal transformer with additional isolation winding and magnetic tape shielding to ensure hum- and noise-free operation in any situation.
- The Ground Lift switch can be used to disconnect DC ground from PE (protective earth) and eliminate noise caused by ground loops. Safety is not affected since the primary part and the housing stay firmly connected to the PE of the power inlet.
- In addition, the DPS-2 comes with a ground-terminal screw connector, to earth other devices or to use an earthing other than PE for the audio power supply.
Status Display via Multicolor Front LEDs
- The DPS-2 features two status LEDs on the front panel to provide a quick overview of the operating modes and error conditions (power, thermal, and power overload, undervoltage, short, active output).
- A recessed push switch on the front panel enables the unique AutoDark mode, with LEDs lit on error states and shortly during power up.
