The Yamaha YPT-380 is a portable keyboard intended for beginners and music lovers, who enjoy learning and playing various styles of music and just having fun. It features 61 touch-sensitive full-size keys for expressive, dynamic control, and 650 diverse instrument sounds—some with Super Articulation Lite technology—to provide realistic performances. There are 260 Accompaniment Styles that add a backing band composed of realistic-sounding instruments such as drums, bass, guitar, and more. Smart Chord technology allows you to play complex chord voicings with just one finger.
The built-in speaker system delivers a clear sound, while the headphone output allows you to privately practice or play. A 3.5mm aux input lets you connect your phone/tablet or music player and play along with your favorite songs. The YPT-380's USB-to-host port enables the keyboard to send MIDI and audio signals straight into your computer/DAW or smartphone for recording your music or performances. The Keys to Success mode includes techniques to help you learn how to play the built-in songs and improve your skills.
The YPT-380 can be powered via six AA batteries (available separately) or by using the included AC adapter.

- In addition to the beautifully realistic sounds of Yamaha grand pianos, there are 650 built-in voices including 258 panel voices, 25 drum/SFX kits, 20 arpeggios, and 347 XGlite voices—offering realistic sounds of guitars, basses, drums, and other musical instruments.
- Play the keys strongly and the sound gets louder. Play them softly and it becomes gentle and delicate. This nuanced response gives you full expressive control and allows you to express yourself the way you were meant to be heard.
- You can layer two different voices across the entire keyboard, letting you create your own unique sound combinations.
- By dividing the keyboard into the two separate areas, you can play one sound with your left hand and a different sound with your right.
Automatic Backing Band Made Easy
- With the powerful Auto-Accompaniment Style features, you can automatically add the accompaniment of realistic instruments such as drums, bass, and more—all perfectly matching your chords. You’ll sound like you’re playing with a complete backing band.
- Auto Chord Play automatically produces musically appropriate chords as you play, allowing you expand your performance in exciting ways.
Smart Chords and Arpeggio Function
- Choose from two ways to play chords: Smart Chord lets you play lush sounding chords with just one finger; Multi lets you play chords using normal fingering. Smart Chord allows you to play more complex chord harmonies using simple techniques, enhancing your performances without regard to your skill level.
- With the arpeggio function enabled, the chords you play are transformed into a variety of musical phrases and rhythms. Every Voice has a default arpeggio type, but you can experiment by changing the type, giving you full control over your creativity. Twenty-five types of arpeggios are available.
DSP Effects
- This YPT-380 comes with a DSP (Digital Signal Processor) that allows you to apply a variety of onboard effects such as delay or distortion to the sound and adapt it to your performance.
- When a Voice that features a recommended DSP setting is selected the DSP effect is applied to the main Voice part.
Improve Your Skills while Having Fun
- With the included Lesson functions, you can practice according to your own skill level. Select your favorite song from the 125 included Lesson Songs, then independently practice your right hand, left hand, or both hands together.
- You can even practice specific phrases of a song. The PYT-380 will evaluate your practice sessions, giving you immediate feedback, so you can get better, faster.
Onboard MIDI Song Recorder
- Use the 2-track MIDI recorder to record your performance with a single button press, and quickly check the results of your practicing.
USB Audio and MIDI: Record to Your Computer or Portable Device
- The USB-to-host terminal allows you to connect the keyboard to a computer or portable device and record MIDI or high-quality audio without the need for an additional interface. A variety of creative and educational iOS apps are available from the App Store.
Easily Record Sound and Video, and Upload Your Own Performances
- If you want to take a video of your performance and share it on platforms such as YouTube and TikTok, Yamaha's Rec'n'Share app is the way to go.
- Connect the YPT-380 to your smart device, and record both video and audio at the same time to complete your video (cable is available separately).
