UDO Audio SUPER-8 Overview

Designed to inspire exploration and sonic play, the UDO Super 8 is the next evolution in the Super series that sits between the Super 6 and the Super Gemini in size and power. At its core, the Super 8 features two independent binaural analog-hybrid synthesizer signal chains using UDO's proprietary and proven synthesizer technology. The instrument boasts up to 16 voices of polyphony and two unique timbres, each with their own independent effect chain. Like its larger sibling the Super Gemini, voices and timbral layers can be split, duelled, and sequenced, all at the touch of a single control.

The Super 8 balances power, playability, and performance. It is powered by complex FPGA digital oscillators and decorated with expansive tonal features such as wavemorphing, cross and ring modulation, bidirectional sync, and an all-analog signal path to the output. The instrument is equipped with a 61-note semiweighted keybed with polyphonic aftertouch, left hand performance controls, 256 performance and patch slots, 32 interchangeable waveforms, and 16 sequences.

As the next evolution in the Super family, the 16-voice Super 8 sits confidently between the Super 6 and the Super Gemini. This synth is the distillation of the UDO philosophy of the power of play, with dual cores and the same playability features of its bigger cousin, all in a more compact and simplified presentation. It's the best of both worlds.

What is Binaural?
Binaural refers to the twin synthesizer signal paths. In Binaural mode, each channel (ear) has a complete synthesizer voice. You can detune and de-phase the left and right oscillators or amplitude and filter (and indeed other parameters) relative to each other. Ranging from subtle to extreme, this unique feature allows for experimenting with the width of the sound and creates an improved sense of 3D positioning. It has in this sense one super voice for every two conventional voices.
FPGA Digital Oscillators
The Super Series instruments leverage the power of ultraprecision FPGA digital oscillators for a direct and alias-free sound source. This innovative technology combined with an archetypal analog signal path to the outputs provides a rich and flexible sound canvas that can be sculpted for warm basses, expansive pads, and sparkling leads.
