BenQ PD2706U Reviews

Disappointed in the Latent Burn In

By Marc

Bought in July of 2025. I had the impression that BenQ was ‘known’ for quality, high-end monitors, but after having this monitor for a year, I’m underwhelmed, unimpressed, and not very likely to purchase another BenQ monitor in the future. Puck It often takes more than one click-press to get the monitor to switch to the selected source. >click< I see my finger pressing, I feel my finger pressing, I hear my finger pressing ... waiting ... waiting ... nothing yet ... still on the first source ... press again >click< .... annnnd now it switches. Doesn’t matter which button, so it’s not like one of the buttons is faulty. This gets old pretty fast, especially since I switch sources repeatedly throughout the day. The puck is round, so when sitting at the farthest edge of my desk away from me, it’s hard to know its orientation, where east west north and south are. This is important when you know you want to press (for example) number 1 which is on the left, or 2 which is on the ‘bottom’ .. I just want to reach out and press the button from muscle memory (the puck isn’t stapled to my desk so it moves around and its orientation changes). But the numbers are near impossible to see in a dark edit room because they’re embossed into the puck. I hacked this by painting the inset numbers with white paint which improved things dramatically, but really, I shouldn’t have had to do this. Display The display is crisp but the burn in is ridiculous. I’ve worked on many, MANY monitors over the years and I’ve never experienced latency burn in as annoying as what I experience. Often the interface of apps (video, browsers, google docs, etc) will persist after I switch from them after having them in focus for a period of time. This burn in eventually goes away (I did a very unscientific test once and it took about 45 seconds for a previous interface to disappear) but sometimes it’s more than cosmetic. Client: “Looks like your opacity start keyframe is 10 or 20 percent .. make sure it starts at zero. ” Me: “Actually, it starts from zero, you’re just seeing it from when it was on the screen for while. It’ll go away, sorry.” The closest I’ve experienced this was the previous monitor which prompted this monitor’s purchase - burn in started after 7 years of use, but at least just around the edges. Here with the BenQ it’s uniformly the entire screen. Only good thing is that it’s no where near as bad as the burn in with that previous monitor. Thinking I had a dud I video recorded and photographed the issue and sent it to BenQ and was basically informed that I, “...should avoid displaying images for a long time...” and “the issue is present in all types of monitors, especially IPS panels.” Support then shared tips on how to prevent burn in such as “turn off your monitor when not in use” or “use a screen saver” noting, “If the problem erases [...] within a few minutes, the unit is within specification.” Minutes? I was surprised by that reply. Giving it 3 stars because at least the image it displays is correct and crisp when I’m not dealing with the burn in. End note, this affects me every day and apparently sticks in my craw enough that after a year I’m back here on the B&H site writing a review in hopes it informs future purchasers of this monitor.

Great Display

This is the first time I've used a non-Apple display for my graphic design business, and -- out of the box -- it looks just like my Apple displays. The USB-C won't plug into just any of the ports, you have to find the right one. That confused me for a bit when I was setting things up.

Looking into buying a monitor arm, how much do the displays weigh? And can I connect two of these to a MacBook Pro?
Asked by: Alejandro
Weighing just 11.68 lbs. (without the stand) and supporting the 100 x 100mm VESA mounting pattern, mounting these BenQ DesignVue PD2706U 27" 4K HDR Designer Monitors on an arm will not be a problem. For two monitors, I would recommend the Gabor Levitouch Dual-Arm Desktop Monitor Mount for Two 17 to 32" Displays linked here: https://bhpho.to/45VdDb5. These monitors each have a single USB-C port with DisplayPort Alt mode, making connection to a recent Macbook Pro model easy.
