The lens cap construction is rugged and durable, and the spring-loaded release tabs are designed to be large enough so that you mount and remove the lens cap while wearing gloves. The cap is a snug fit on your lens and can be mounted on the lens without, or with the lens hood attached, even if the hood is attached reversed.

I bought a used Ef 400mm f4 DO II that came with a floppy lens hood cover. This feels much more secure to me than the suba diver material cover I had initially. I was concerned that the cap would come close to the front element but it sits super nicely and securely. I pop the cap in my back pocket while shooting and toss it on when walking around. Works well with light mittens, a great addition to my kit.

The Bioluminous Front Lens Cap for Canon EF 400mm f/4 DO (Black and Black) is compatible with both the Mark 1 and Mark 2 versions of the lens.
