This works as expected in conjunction with my existing Photek Backdrop. I can extend my existing cross rod or add a secondary backdrop on separate tripods. I used the "Impact 1/4"-20 Threaded 3/8" Stud for Stand Top" on 2 light stands to create a second back drop.

This might the best in its category and thus the good reviews. Nonetheless, I was really disappointed with this $60 rod. I thought I was purchasing a well machined product but this is nowhere near that. The joints are very sloppy. As others have pointed out, to "lock" the joints you need to align the arrows on each section. They don't lock at all. They spin freely. They wobble. They are sloppy joints. The rod deflects without and weight on it. I have not yet tried it with my muslin backdrop. I may have to keep it for lack of a better solution. I spent $60 on a 12' rod because I thought it would be sturdy and not deflect. I am very disappointed in this product. If I find something better I will post it here.

The Photek Locking Background Crossbar is the bar placed horizontally on two stands in which a Vinyl backdrop can be placed (depending the backdrop product) by the loops or clipped on by Spring A-Clamps. This can be done without any sag when placed properly without the need to get a third stand.
