Kowa TSN-55A Reviews

My wife and I own four scopes now: a Zeiss Diascope 65mm, a Swarovski BTX 95mm, a Swarovksi ATX 65mm, and the new Kowa TSN 55a. I'm guessing we'll be putting the Swaro 65mm up for sale soon because the Kowa is every bit as good but weighs significantly less. To us, it's becoming more than just a travel scope.

This is a brilliant scope for birdwatching, particularly if it involves travel. The image is very bright, extremely sharp with lovely contrast. I had the prior KOWA TSN-553-A scope which is also superb. The biggest difference I see with the TSN-55 is that the larger 17-40x TE-11WZ II Eyepiece makes it easier more quickly align the image in the scope with center of one's eyes. I have started digiscoping with it using the PhoneSkope C3-026-A eyepiece & a Phoneskope case for my model of cell phone. This makes it quick to attach the phone and the resulting combo is precisely aligned and very solid. This is an expensive bino (and the neoprene case is another $265 but you get a great scope. I bought mine as part of the initial promotion at a discounted price, and have been very happy with it.
