Canon RF-S 3.9mm f/3.5 STM Dual Fisheye Overview

From Manufacturer

Create more immersive stories with the RF-S 3.9mm f/3.5 STM Dual Fisheye Lens from Canon. Designed for the EOS R7 APS-C mirrorless camera system, a full-frame equivalence of 6.2mm is provided. The dual high-performance fisheye lenses allow you to capture stereoscopic 3D 180° VR imagery with a 144° field of view to a single image sensor, simplifying your workflow and saving you time in post. Pairing this lens with the EOS R7 allows recordings up to 4K 30 fps. Autofocus is available when capturing stills via a gear-type STM motor.

STM Autofocusing Motor
Driving the RF-S 3.9mm f/3.5 STM Dual Fisheye is a gear-type stepping motor (STM) with a dual-lens autofocus mechanism, which moves the left and right lenses in unison. This makes autofocus as simple to operate as it is with an ordinary lens. The electronic focusing/control ring and the left-right focus difference adjustment switch enhance operation by allowing adjustment of the left-right focus differential.

Autofocus operates only on subjects within the image circle of the left lens. Additionally, Servo AF is not available. Before shooting a movie, you must adjust the focus to One-Shot AF or manual focus.

Portable and Lightweight Design
The RF mount and the folded optical design allow for a compact design that's easy to use in tight spaces. Weighing just 10.2oz, this dual fisheye lens conveniently fits in most bags and is perfect for travel.
Air Sphere Coating (ASC)
Ghosting and reflections are noticeably reduced by Canon's air sphere lens coating. During challenging lighting conditions, such as backlit scenes, more contrast and uniform colors are present in your images.
30.5mm Rear Filter Thread
You can attach 30.5mm screw-on filters to the rear of the lens, as well as a filter holder for cut gel and polyester filters.

Canon R7 with this RF-S 3.9mm f/3.5 STM Dual Fisheye Lens is a good alternative to Canon R5 with Canon RF 5.2mm f/2.8 L Dual Fisheye. It is much more affordable and more lightweight. It has autofocus as well, which makes shooting easier. There are two drawback I would like to mention: 1) Lower field of view (144 vs 180). This can be remedied by shooting videos more dynamically, i.e. mount a camera on a gimbal and smoothly go through the scene. 2) Lower resolution than Canon R5 (4K vs 8K). This can be remedied by upscale tools such as Topaz Video AI. Results are amazing with 2x upscale with Gaia AI model.

you can do anything with it VR video anything you desire and it works
