Vanguard VEO 5 264A with PH-38S Pan/Tilt Head Overview

The VEO 5 264A Aluminum Tripod with PH-38S Pan/Tilt Head from Vanguard is a lightweight yet versatile tripod with a load capacity of 22 lb and a maximum height of 67". The hexagonal center column easily separates into a short column to provide a minimum height of 9.5" for low perspective shooting. Each aluminum leg has a rubber foot with a retractable steel spike for traction on any surface.

The included 3-way pan/tilt head offers precise movement on three individual axes for controlled camera positioning. It features a panoramic base with a numbered scale and an Arca-type quick release set with QR plate.

Good for birding with a scope

This is a stable tripod for watching birds with our Kowa 99 spotting scope. With two tilting mechanisms, it’s easy to use either hand to aim the scope. My only complaint is that the bar that raises and lowers the scope (or camera) does not adjust smoothly.

Could have been a good tripod

I received the tripod and had some fantastic high hopes. On the center post there is an O-ring that prevents the legs from hitting the center post. That O-ring was broken on arrival. I attempted to contact Vanguard and B & H asking what size O-ring I needed to get to replace it. B & H did answer and advised all they could do was have me return it. I left several messages with Vanguard on the phone and through their Facebook. Their Facebook account messaged me back after 6 days. I have still not received a call back from them. Needless to say, I have returned the tripod and have purchased another brand. Its a shame, this could have been a four or five star review, but the customer service from Vanguard is non-existent, which would make me not want to purchase their products.
