Beware of Surface Deterioration

I've been using tablets to edit photos in Photoshop for at least 15 years. My XP-Pen Star G960S at around four years old was giving me some odd inputs so I replaced it with this tablet. The surface is different from the G960S and I immediately noticed the stylus left distinct surface marks and contacted B&H customer service with concern and a photo. I was assured that the marks were normal, but in the next day or so I was using the Photoshop Remove Tool with the Deco Pro with poor results; i.e. even increased pressure did not translate into erasure expectations on the digital file. To my surprise my erasure pressure created a deep scratch on the tablet surface. Other surface scratches occurred on following image edits so I requested to return it to B&H. They declined saying "looks like regular wear and tare and some looks like the pen was pressed too hard on the tablet there is nothing defective with this item". Well, there are no gouges on the Star 960S surface. Odd that I can create gouges on this Deco Pro. I note that the XP-Pen website for this product (https://www.xp-pen.com/store/buy/deco-pro-gen2.html) touts the tablet surface "One Paper design. Work magic on this seamless simulated paper surface — no buttons and no slits. Draw, edit, and capture ideas in a way that’s so familiar while having all the digital functions to take your work to the next level." I'm Not Impressed. Attached photo shows the gouges as white marks. Naturally the stylus does not move smoothly over those spots.
