RODE VideoMic GO II-H Ultracompact Analog/USB Camera-Mount Shotgun Microphone
Designed to suit the diverse needs of today's content creators, the Rode VideoMic GO II-H is a portable, ultralightweight on-camera shotgun microphone that makes capturing broadcast-quality audio effortless for podcasting, gaming, livestreaming, video calls, and on-the-go interviews. With both analog 3.5mm TRS and digital USB-C outputs, it's versatile for use with cameras, iOS/Android smartphones/tablets, and macOS/Windows computers. Advanced tech like the Annular line tube technology provides a highly directional, crisp sound, ideal for a wide range of content-creation applications. The included foam windshield ensures clear recordings minus the wind noise, while the innovative Helix isolation shockmount silences bumps and shakes.
Acoustic Design and Highly Directional Pickup Pattern
  • The VideoMic GO II-H features the same annular line tube technology as the popular VideoMic NTG and NTG5 professional shotgun microphones. This innovative acoustic design gives the VideoMic GO II-H a very rich, full-bodied sound that instantly improves the audio of your camera, smartphone, tablet, or computer (additional cables required).
  • The mic's supercardioid pickup pattern is highly directional, meaning that it clearly picks up sound from in front of the mic, while sounds to the side and rear are reduced.
  • It can also pick up sounds that are further away from the microphone while still retaining presence and clarity.
Small but Mighty
  • Weighing in at just 2.1 oz, the VideoMic GO II-H is compact and lightweight enough to take with you wherever you go.
  • Perfect for use with compact cameras, mobile recording rigs, or on a desktop as a USB microphone for capturing high-quality audio anywhere.
As Simple as Plug-and-Go
  • The VideoMic GO II-H has no complicated controls or switches and requires no batteries to operate, so you can get recording in seconds.
  • It connects seamlessly to cameras, computers, smartphones, and tablets, giving you instant high-quality audio with ease—just pick it up, plug it in, and go.
  • No batteries are needed for the VideoMic GO II-H. It runs on plug-in power through the TRS connection to your camera, or it can be bus powered via USB.
Using the VideoMic GO II-H with a Camera
  • When being used with a camera, the VideoMic GO II-H is designed to be a simple plug-and-go microphone with no controls or switches, ensuring minimal fuss. You can use the manual gain control on your camera to adjust the input level if required.
  • Use the supplied Helix isolation shockmount to attach the VideoMic GO II-H to your camera’s cold shoe and the included SC14 3.5mm TRS patch cable to plug it in.
Using the VideoMic GO II-H with a Smartphone or Tablet
  • The VideoMic GO II-H features a USB-C audio output that allows it to be connected to mac/OS/Windows computers and iOS/Android mobile devices, and be used as a fully featured USB microphone. When in USB mode, the 3.5mm TRS output can be used to connect headphones for audio monitoring and playback.
  • Additional cables are required for connecting the VideoMic GO II-H to computers and mobile devices via USB, such as the Rode SC16, SC17, or SC18 for devices with a USB-C input, or Rode SC15 or SC19 for iOS devices with a Lightning port. Note: to use the VideoMic GO II-H with an iOS device, you must use the SC15 or SC19.
  • When using the VideoMic GO II-H with a smartphone or tablet, you can access advanced features using the Rode Central app, including input level and direct monitoring control, a high-pass filter and high-frequency boost, and a -20 dB pad.
Using the VideoMic GO II with a Computer
  • When used with a computer, the VideoMic GO II-H works as a fully functional USB microphone, complete with headphone monitoring using the 3.5mm output.
  • To connect the VideoMic GO II-H to your computer, you will need a USB-C to USB-C cable like the Rode SC16 or SC17, or a USB-C to USB-A cable like the RodeSC18, depending on your computer's USB-port configuration.
  • The VideoMic GO II-H is fully compatible with the Rode Connect app, allowing you to connect up to four of the microphones to a computer, with complete control over the input level and audio processing.
Full USB Microphone Functionality
  • Plug the VideoMic GO II into your computer, smartphone, or tablet via USB to use it as a digital USB microphone for direct recording to your favorite software. Its integrated analog-to-digital converter operates at 24-bit / 48 kHz to provide full-resolution, uncompressed audio quality.
Windscreen Minimizes Wind Noise
The VideoMic GO II-H includes a foam windscreen to minimize unwanted wind noise from light breezes, fans, heaters, and air conditioners. For maximum reduction of wind noise in outdoor environments, consider a furry windshield such as the Rode WS12 (available separately).
Works with Rode Apps
  • Rode Connect: record with up to four microphones on a computer, with intuitive controls and powerful features. Create pro-quality podcasts or livestreams, and access studio-quality processing at the click of a button.
  • Rode Reporter: configure device settings, including adjusting the input gain, engaging a high-pass filter, high-frequency boost, and pad, and recording broadcast-quality audio on the go with your mobile device.

    RODE VideoMic GO IIH Reviews

Great Portable Mic for Several Reasons

    By Marshall
    Rated 5 out of 5

I have three. They are the best balance I know between portability and quality. It plugs into usb c for any computer (including my laptop). It can plug into the 3/8" Lav mic input on the Rode wireless transmitters. It sounds great! Almost ideal for single voice narration (which is what I use it for). Very directional so that if you use it up close, even without a surrounding sound-cage, it gives quite a consistent sound in different environments. And with a fur windscreen, no plosives. Though it not up to full-on music production, it's not far from that. Clean, rich-signal, low noise. With a quick-release tripod mount (like the VRIG Claw Mini Quick Release Plate) it is small enough for me to carry, as a complete unit, in a bathroom kit.

RODEVIDEOMic GO II-H...the perfect mic for on the go

The RODEVIDEOMIC GO II-H was recommended to me by the staff at B&H. Needed a low profile (small) but powerful microphone that would could be attached to a monopod and smartphone rig. The audio recording I got from my session was ideal. For a small micphone it packs a punch. Five Star Rating*****

Can the USB-C work directly with an iPhone?
    Asked by: Braulio
Yes, the Rode VideoMic GO II with its USB-C output can work directly with an iPhone, but there are some important considerations: You'll need the correct cable: For iPhones with a Lightning port, you need a RØDE SC15 or SC19 MFi (Made For iOS) certified USB-C to Lightning cable. Standard, non-MFi certified USB-C to Lightning cables will not work. If you have a newer iPhone with a USB-C port (e.g., iPhone 15/16), you'll need a USB-C to USB-C cable, such as the RØDE SC16.

Will it work with the Nikon z9? and will I be able to use the viewfinder?
    Asked by: David
The RODE VideoMic GO II-H Ultracompact Analog/USB Camera-Mount Shotgun Microphone is fully compatible with the Nikon Z9. The camera has a 3.5 mm TRS microphone input that does supply plug‐in power, so it meets RØDE’s requirement for the VideoMic GO II. As far as we are aware, using the viewfinder on the camera along with the microphone is not an issue.

How far will this microphone pick up sound? I'm looking for a microphone for recording of a football ("soccer") match.
    Asked by: Johnny
The RODE VideoMic GO II-H Ultracompact Analog/USB Camera-Mount Shotgun Microphone Optimal pickup range is about 1 to 3 feet (0.3 to 1 meter) for clear, full-bodied sound—ideal for vlogging, interviews, or voiceovers. Usable range: Up to 6 to 10 feet (2 to 3 meters) in quiet environments, though clarity and presence will diminish with distance. Beyond 10 feet: The mic can still pick up sound, but it will be noticeably quieter and may require post-processing to enhance clarity.
