KanexPro EXT-USB3100M Overview

Simply connect the USB-B transmitter module to your compatible computer to get started. Then use a separately purchased Cat 6 Ethernet cable to connect it to the 4-port USB-A receiver, which may be powered using the included power adapter. No additional drivers are required. USB 2.0 and 1.1 speeds are supported along with bi-directional 24V Power Over Cat (PoC) is supported. Use the RS-232 and FSYNC GPIO passthrough connector with industrial cameras.

Kanex Pro did not work out of the box. I contacted customer service, created a support ticket and no response and no way to follow up on support request. avoid kanex pro. I will update my review if they respond and provide help.

Does this work via the physical cable alone or is it a network device and require an IP? route/switch?

The KanexPro USB 3.1 Gen 1 Over Cat 6 Ethernet Extender Kit (328') is a point-to-point solution that requires the transmitter and the receiver to be connected directly over an Ethernet cable. This is not an IP-based solution that could be routed through a local network.

Does this need to be powered on both ends, or do you have an option to run power at one end or the other?

No, only one of the two units in the KanexPro USB 3.1 Gen 1 Over Cat 6 Ethernet Extender Kit (328') would need to be powered. The other module would receive power over Ethernet from the module that is connected to the power supply.
