RME MADIface XT II Overview

With comprehensive connectivity and a compact desktop housing, the RME MADIface XT II 394-Channel Triple MADI USB 3.0 Audio Interface offers a powerful solution for transferring analog audio and an extremely high channel count of digital audio directly to a computer, from practically any source. The MADIface XT II features updated digital and analog circuitry and surpasses the first generation with significantly improved analog and digital performance. It also adds Room EQ for speaker correction and Dolby Atmos support, and USB 3 Class Compliant operation for transmission of all 394 channels without needing a driver.

MADIface XT II is equipped with a pair of XLR analog mic-/line-input and line-output connectors, supplemented by a headphone output. It features three MADI I/O options (two optical and one coaxial), wordclock I/O, MIDI and AES I/O (via D-Sub), and a USB-B port for connecting a computer. There is also a USB-A port that can be used to hook up RME's ARC USB remote unit. The interface comes with the TotalMix FX DSP mixer offering comprehensive routing and monitoring options. Also included is a plug-in bundle with Ozone 10 Elements, S-Gear Amp simulation software, Brainworx BX Opto Compressor, Modartt Pianoteq 6, Tape It recording app, and more.

Analog and Digital Upgrades for Improved Performance
  • MADIface XT II delivers a higher signal-to-noise ratio and a lower THD value during A/D conversion.
  • The maximum balanced line-output level of has been increased from +15 dBu to +24 dBu.
  • The stereo headphone output also delivers a significantly higher output level of +19 dBu and, with an output impedance of 1 ohm, significantly more power than its predecessor.
  • All outputs also have several switchable level options.
  • The new digital board now features a USB-A ARC USB remote port, which enables comprehensive control of the MADIface XT II with the optional ARC USB remote unit.
  • The interface also offers the Room EQ with nine parametric bands for use in surround setups for up to 20 mono output channels.
USB 3 Class Compliant Audio: Simultaneous Transmission of All 394 Channels
  • The MADIface XT II operates in two different modes: driver-based USB 3 and Class Compliant. The Class Compliant mode is a standard that is natively supported by operating systems like Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux. No proprietary drivers are required, the device will be directly recognized when the CC firmware is loaded.
  • The new MADIface XT II focuses on USB 3.0. The device's Class Compliant mode has been significantly upgraded, as all 394 channels can now be transmitted simultaneously without a driver. In addition, there are various formats and settings for the channel sequence in order to make optimal use of the Class Compliant feature.
SteadyClock FS: Femtoseconds for Clocking
  • Based on a femto clock, SteadyClock FS reduces the intrinsic jitter of the MADIface XT II to an absolute minimum, and filters clock jitter efficiently from as low as 1 Hz.
  • RME's SteadyClock technology ensures excellent performance in all clock modes. Its highly efficient jitter suppression refreshes and cleans up any clock signal and provides the clock signal as reference clock at the word clock output.
  • At the same time, analog conversion is performed with the highest quality, completely independent from that of the used reference clock. The cleaned and jitter-freed clock signal can be used as the reference clock in any application—independent of the external (input) clock's quality.

  • TotalMix FX can completely replace an external mixer, enabling the creation of multiple latency-free monitor mixes with EQ, Dynamics, Reverb and Delay for any outputs, including main monitors and headphone mixes for musicians.
  • TotalMix Remote is a remote control for TotalMix FX for controlling the hardware mixer and effects in the audio interface. Room EQ in TotalMix FX
  • Room EQ is a zero-latency solution for Speaker Correction, Optimized Headphone Sound, Immersive Audio and Surround Setups, including Dolby ATMOS.
  • The latest Room EQ addition provides an optimized version of the existing 3-band PEQ in TotalMix FX, including 9-band PEQ, and Volume Calibration Crossfeed function.
ARC USB Remote Control for TotalMix FX
  • The optional ARC USB remote connects to your computer via USB and talks to TotalMix FX directly. It has 15 freely assignable and illuminated buttons, one encoder wheel, and a TS jack to connect a footswitch.
