PGYTECH Camera Wrist Strap Air Reviews

Best option in the market

Strap is similar to the ones offered by the competitors but the quality of this one excels as every product from PGYTECH. More important, this material are designed to last because they’re synthetic leather.

Functional but Unrefined

I got this PGYTECH one because it's one of the few quick attachment systems that allows the two connectors to rotate freely when connected, so the strap won't get twisted. The only other systems I know of that allow this are the extremely bulky metal QD connectors, which aren't really well suited for a wrist strap, and the Ulanzi/Falcam magnetic ones, which I'm not inclined to trust given another review here on B&H complaining about its lack of security. Unfortunately, the ball is ever so slightly smaller than the socket, and this leads to a plasticky rattling/scraping noise, not only when the ball rotates in the socket but also when it hits the locking mechanism at the top. This is not as much of a problem for the neck strap for two reasons: (1) the attachment hardware is larger and damps out more of the rotation-generated scraping sound, and (2) the tension generated by the camera's weight holds the ball against one end of the socket, reducing the rattling noise. There's no such tension when you're holding a camera with a wrist strap, though, and to make things worse, the stiffness of this strap means that all the motion of the camera relative to your wrist is transmitted to the ball/socket and generates noise. That means a clicky rattle every time I put the strap on, and random creaks while I'm holding the camera. The noise is much louder and more frequent than the (minimal) sound generated by Optech or even no-name Amazon buckles. I don't have a set of Peak Design connectors or strap on me, but friends (and the B&H video chat folks) who tested them also found minimal or no rattling. The noise is personally irritating enough to me (a stills photographer) that I'll probably be returning this strap. Don't even think about this thing if you do any sort of video. The description and the pictures also claim that when a camera isn't attached to the strap, you can wear it like a bracelet by attaching the socket magnetically to the strap. What they don't say is that because the strap is so stiff, the aluminum hardware juts outwards, making the strap pretty bulky. Perhaps the strap will break in and get more flexible over time, but I won't be keeping it long enough to find out. It's a pretty minor issue though, and not a dealbreaker (unlike the noise). That's not to say that this strap is all bad, though. The hardware quality feels decent, the strap is smooth against the hand with no chafing caused by hardware or stitching, the connectors attach to tiny Sony lugs with no noisy split rings needed (although one is included), and the concept is well thought out. If they fixed the rattling sound, it would be a definite keeper.

what is the circumference of the wrist strap when fully open? I would like to fit the strap over a heavy glove.
Asked by: Nino
The PGYTECH Camera Wrist Strap Air has a circumference of 3.8''. You should be able to use a glove with no issue as the strap is adjustable.
