Sunwayfoto GH-PRO II Overview

The GH-PRO II+ 3-Way Geared Tripod Head from Sunwayfoto simplifies precise camera movements via its exquisite gear drive, making it especially suitable for landscape and architectural photography. Compared to other geared heads it features a compact design without sacrificing function or stability. The all-metal gear system ensures the head's steadiness, and the durable head has a robust load capacity of 8.8 pounds.

The GH-PRO II+ adds further utility thanks to the GC-01 geared clamp, providing an additional point of incremental control and adjustment with 360° panning.

The fore and aft -90 to +80° tilt movements and lateral -40 to +40° tilt movements are controlled by geared knobs that have incorporated folding handles. The 360° panoramic base features an independent locking knob, and each axis features a numbered scale for precise and repeatable results. The integrated Arca-type quick release set also features a numbered scale, incorporates a bubble level, and includes a DP-60R Arca-type quick release plate.

A great tool, until it isn't

I've had 2 of these, and they were a huge step up from the clunky, bulky, and rather crude Manfrotto I had previously. The first one was beginning to get wobble in the action after about a year of moderate use when I dropped it on rocks and it bent one of the adjustment knobs. I liked it well enough to get another one, hoping that the wobble in the first one was a fluke, but before too long the second one developed the same wobbly action as the first one. There are some set screws which I adjusted, but that helped little if any. Other than the dropping incident, neither were used roughly or carelessly. I want to like these heads because they're reasonably priced, compact, lightweight, seem well-made and operate smoothly (for awhile), but I'm not going to buy a third one. It works okay for most of the landscape photography I do, but for macro work, which I'm doing more and more of and where precision is needed, the action is just too sloppy. I'm not sure what to get to replace it. 5 stars for design, 2 stars for durability sloppy to get good results.

Great Head

I Use This Head With My 58mm F/0.95 Noct Nikkor For Tabletop Product Shoots. It Is Really Fantastic For Dialing In Exact Positioning. Extremely Well Made And All The Controls Feel Smooth, High Quality. For The Price, It's An Absolutely Outstanding Product. I Could Not Be Happier With This Acquisition.

Can the clamp be replaced with a Lever clamp or is the mount proprietary?
Asked by: Kim
The Sunwayfoto GH-PRO II+ 3-Way Geared Tripod Head only comes with knob adjustment for the clamp and there is no official way of swapping it out for a lever clamp.
