Light Duty Butterfly Kit - 6x6' is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything you need, except instructions I was in need of a reflector/diffuser for lighting interiors and exteriors for video. This definitely does the trick. As a big fan of everything you need kits, this one does in fact have everything you need in one nice snug bag. It arrived already in the carrying case and has everything you would need except instructions. After unboxing, I pulled out all of the frame rods, the tripod/stands, the grips and the white (artificial) silk. Once I figured out the proper combination of what rods go where for the frame, I labeled the corner of every rod with masking tape. I HIGHLY recommend you do this once you have successfully put the frame together. If you have ever put together a tent imagine not having color-coded rods (and no instructions). After I had the frame built and labeled, we set up the stands with the grip heads. The stands and grips are SOLID. Very heavy-duty. They really hold the position of the frame when you tilt it to your preferred angle, even with a breeze. When you are filming/shooting with a small crew it helps that no one has to hold a reflector. The included white silk is pretty nice. My wife and I threw the silk's elastic bands over the corners and tied it down to the frame with the various ties. We then took the setup outside and tested it as a reflector with natural sunlight. EXCELENT! It produced a very clean white reflection. We later tested it as a diffuser with 500w spotlight from behind. The silk diffused pretty evenly and again a very clean white. It's like having a huge softbox, even with clamp lights. Naturally, the further back you move the lights, the more even the light. Regarding the size 6x6 sounds good until you actually see a 6x6 frame attached to two heavy-duty stands. It's a lot bigger than I pictured and at times when shooting in smaller interior areas I wish I had opted for the 4x4 but after the first wide shot you do outside, you forget about all of that. The bag/carrying case is pretty sweet too. It's black with orange trim, which helps differentiate when you have 20+ bags of various equipment (sad I know). After we labeled the frame and practiced building up and tearing down a few times, the set up time is pretty fast considering the initial hour it took us. I say 10 to 15 minutes for 2 practiced people. Overall 5 out of 5 is says it all. I have zero buyers-remorse with this set up. The lack of instructions really made a bad first impression but after we had it setup and tested I realized that I wished I could set it up for every shoot, even when it's not practical. The included silk evens light and reflects to my standards. You can also buy additional silks for the frame if you want some variety. I say that without having used the white/black fabric also included. If you get this, label the frames corners. Seriously! My PA's thank me every time they build it, and they mean it. Worth every penny.
