The Zoom H1 XLR Portable Audio Recorder for Video can be connected to a camera through the 3.5mm headphone output connector using a 3.5mm line-to-mic attenuator cable such as the Kopul ACH4-25MON Line-to-Mic Attenuator Cable (BH # KOACH425MON). Since the output signal from the recorder's headphone jack is line level and the camera requires a mic level signal, the attenuator cable provides a 25 dB pad to step down the hot line level audio to microphone level.

Two double AA alkaline batteries may last up to 10 hours of continuous recording. When phantom-powering XLR microphones the battery life will be far less.
