Designed to deliver detailed sound reproduction for small workspaces, the EVE Audio SC203 is a pair of active/passive studio monitors for use in near-field applications. Each monitor features an advanced µA.M.T. tweeter and a 3" woofer. The enclosure forgoes the ported design and instead utilizes a passive radiator, which reinforces the reproduction of low frequencies and allows the speaker's response to reach as low as 62 Hz with extremely low distortion.
The right speaker is active and includes all I/O and amplification for both speakers. The rear panel includes a stereo RCA input and a mono RCA output for connecting to a subwoofer. The speaker also includes a USB-B port and an TOSLINK optical input for digital sources. The SC203 includes a power supply, a stereo link cable (to passive left speaker), and two FlexiPads.
- The Air Motion Transformer (AMT) is unique driver technology, distinct from other audio drivers. It utilizes a lightweight hand-folded diaphragm that is thinly coated with aluminum. The current of the music signal flows through these conductive strands.
- The diaphragm is placed in a powerful magnetic field leading to movement in the folds caused by the Lorentz force. Due to the opposing direction of the current the walls of each single fold work against each other. The air between the folds is squeezed in and out at a ratio of 1:4, compared to the 1:1 ratio of a regular dome tweeter.
- This results in higher resolution and dynamics in the tweeter section, along with a very low distortion level, allowing superior sound quality with enhanced detail and clarity.
The extracompact Air Motion Transformer
- This high resolution µA.M.T. delivers an astonishing high-frequency resolution combined with extraordinary precision and clarity. The folded membrane of this high-resolution µA.M.T. has only a 400mm² surface area, about less than half as the RS1 tweeter (which is used in the SC204 speaker). An integrated waveguide helps create an optimal dispersion pattern over a wide frequency range.
- To complete the system, strong neodymium magnets coupled with a magnetic holder and membrane holder optimized for very low distortion values at the specified SPL.
- Nondetachable loudspeaker grilles protect both woofer and µA.M.T. tweeter against damage.
- Press and hold the control three seconds in order to put the monitor is Standby mode. The volume will decrease gradually while the LED ring lights up around the volume control. Afterward, the LED on the right end will remain dimly lit and the power consumption is reduced to 1W.
Volume
- The volume can be adjusted by turning the knob. Depending on the LED mod selected, the volume will be displayed as a dim/bright circle or as a dim/bright point
Mute
- To put the monitor in Mute Mode, turn the volume control counterclockwise until you reach the minimum level. When the LED on the left end light sup dimly, the Mute Mode is activated.
Settings
- Press the SMART knob once to enter the Settings menu. Here you can set different filters and LED ring's behavior. The LED of the currently active function blinks.
