iOptron HAE43C Overview

With remarkable load capacity for its size and smooth strain wave gearing, the HAE43C Dual Alt-Az / Equatorial Mount from iOptron will point your optic or camera to the wonders of the cosmos. Utilizing strain wave drive technology for RA and DEC movement, it supports a payload up to 55 pounds with a counterweight or 44 pounds without one.

The mount can be controlled by computer via the USB-C port, running ASCOM/Commander for a Windows PC or a third party INDI driver for a Mac OS software, but can also be operated by using an optional 8411 handset.

Great Mount with one concern

It has been a pleasure to use this new mount so far with my 8” Meade LX200 ACF OTA and astrophotography rig, while I am still dialing in the guiding needed to take full advantage of its advance technology. My only concern is the C version of the mount has an exposed small circuit board on the underside of the dovetail saddle, a less than elegant solution that could have been easily design with a cover. The ability to use the full functionality of the mount without a hand paddle, combined with the well planned connections to a computer either wired or WiFi are appreciated.
