Intrepid Camera CMPCT ENL Overview

Black and White
Unlike traditional enlargers, all the multigrade contrast filters are built in so you don't need external filters but can use them if desired by setting the dial to white light.
Color
Adjust the color balance via the dials on the control unit for cyan, magenta, and yellow, then focus and set the time. The light on the LED screen also turns off in color printing mode.
Scanning
This mode utilizes the light source as a backlight for digitizing your negatives by utilizing a DSLR or smartphone. It’s calibrated perfectly to create a neutral image and has the option to manually program and save color-balance settings for different film stocks.

Intrepid Camera CMPCT ENL Reviews

Good enough for me!

I use it for scanning and b&w prints. I find it works great for both. I use it on a tripod and I don't have much trouble getting good enough alignment and sharp prints. I can't speak to how it is for color, though.

Super Fun

I just purchased this because I thought it would be fun to make my own B&W prints, and fun it has been! It’s really easy to use, I just slapped it on my camera stand which works fine. A proper copy stand would be better but a camera tripod works just fine, you just have to be a little careful not to nudge it. Its excellent for beginners; I have been getting great results with absolutely no experience in enlarging or developing. I will try color soon but I want to perfect my work flow first so I can do it in total darkness. I know you can get a used enlarger for cheaper, but if you get this unit you don’t have to worry about anything - the LEDs will last forever and you don’t need any filters for B&W or Color. Do yourself a favor and get one!

Can this be attached to a vertical post that is round, or does it have to be square as shown in the photos?
Asked by: Charles
The Intrepid Camera Compact Enlarger has a 1/4"-20 female socket (like a camera), so it can be mounted to a tripod or copy stand. The shape of the post is not a factor as long as it has a 1/4"-20 stud.

The Intrepid Camera Compact Enlarger requires (at least) a stand or tripod and a lens to be functional. To outfit an entire darkroom, you would need many more items.

What are the maximum dimensions (in inches) of the developed photo? In other words, how much can I enlarge it to?
Asked by: Isabel
The Intrepid Compact Enlarger can produce enlargements up to approximately 11 × 14 inches on a standard tabletop or baseboard setup, and larger prints are possible if the enlarger is wall-mounted or used with the head raised higher, as enlargement size is limited by column height and working distance rather than a fixed maximum.
