DVDO AUDIOE-1 Overview

The 4K HDMI 2.0b Audio Extractor from DVDO allows you to extract digital or analog audio signals from a single HDMI source. The device supports LPCM 2-channel, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Atmos, and DTS-HD Master Audio pass-through digital audio formats to the HDMI and optical output ports. It also provides bitstream audio down-mixing to the analog stereo output. The HDMI ports support up to 4K60 video sources. Additional pass-through support includes 10-bit HDR, HBD audio, and CEC. The extractor is HDCP 2.2 and DVI compliant for integration into your post-production or delivery workflow.

This HDMI audio extractor works like a champ. Easy to hook up and the music coming from my receiver via this audio source sounds great. Very clear and detailed.

I needed something with an optical out to add a hearing aid TV transmitter to my Apple TV. The only optical out I had for my system was on the TV and it only output the TV's tuner audio. This plugged in between my Apple TV and receiver and provides audio for all our streaming services. It works well for this purpose.

DVDO AUDIOE-1 - Will the inputs volume control still control the level going out the RCA port?

If the HDMI source device is sending PCM uncompressed audio, then the volume control on the device will impact the volume on the RCA output of the DVDO 4K HDMI 2.0b Audio Extractor.

would this device allow HDCP compliance from a player and then allow HDMI out to a non HDCP device?

The DVDO 4K HDMI 2.0b Audio Extractor is HDCP compliant, so it will work with copyright-protected video feeds; however, it does not strip that protection from the video feed, so the final input device will also need to support HDCP.

Will this device allow me to capture an audio stream from a Mac Mini M2 Pro, then convert it to an MP3 file?

The DVDO 4K HDMI 2.0b Audio Extractor is designed to extract audio from an HDMI source. It would not do the conversion or recording to MP3 files. Additional capture hardware would be required depending on the source; HDMI may be copy protected.
