Fast and Intuitive Operation

Elegant and Reliable Design
Streamlined metal lens barrel includes dual control rings to adjust both focus and zoom; the rings are engraved with the 'H' logo for improved feel. The lens also features a 'Hasselblad V' insignia nameplate and the lens's name is engraved on top of the barrel.

It's a great lens optically but you need to know it's limitations which are documented but they are buried. If all you need is a relatively compact, extremely high quality optic that is the widest you can get on this system, go for it. But...
If you care about focus, very high shutter speed, take a pause. This lens, for whatever reason, uses old, slow, noisy focus motors which makes it incompatible with AF-C. It also tops out at 1/2000 while all of the other new lenses are 1/4000. None of these are the end of the world, I found these things very disappointing because I mostly photograph people. I know I'm spoiled but I expect modern cameras to be able to track focus for me while kids are running around.
If you're taking pictures of static settings like interiors and landscapes, it's glorious. But for the price, I expected more. The 35-100 is much cheaper yet has none of these limitations.

I have a number of Hasselblad XCD lenses for my X2D camera,
including this new Hasselblad XCD 20mm-35mm f/3.2-4.5 E Lens. This lens reaches, IMO, a new level of quality on the X2D.
Indeed, this is the second Zoom lens that Hasselblad has
produced, the first being the Hasselblad XCD 35-75mm F3.5-4.5 Zoom often known as the ‘Prime Zoom’ because each step of the zoom is as good as a prime lens.
This new lens, also a zoom, is just as good or better, IMO. I was fortunate to snag a copy and it’s on my X2D much of the time… at least of late.
Something I especially appreciate is that the near-focus is
a little closer (12 inches) than the XCD 21mm lens. Both lenses are very sharp. The 21mm is still one of my favorite lenses, but I am getting to know the new 20-35mm Zoom to see if it is as good as it seems. It is.
I like having all those prime lenses in one Zoom. It is
very, very helpful because the X2D is so prone to pick up dust and while I am skilled at removing it, it’s no fun to have to clean the sensor.
At this point, I have shot a thousand or so images with this
20mm-35mm Zoom lens and have no complaints. It seems to have its own character, which I like.
So far, I have been shooting music festivals (five this
years), some fashion work, and general city and walk-around photography. IMO, this Zoom for me has already become the reference lens for my wide-angle work.

Would you say this would be better than the 25mm and 38mm given this is a slower lens?

The Hasselblad XCD 20-35mm f/3.2-4.5 E Lens (Hasselblad X) is more convenient since it covers a range of focal lengths. But the prime lenses such as the 25mm and 38mm are sharper because they have less moving parts plus they work better in low light.

Currently, the Hasselblad XCD 20-35mm f/3.2-4.5 E Lens is not listed as compatible with continuous autofocus on the Hasselblad X2D Mark II camera.
