These Razor UHD Binoculars are top of the line for sharpness and brightness. I've owned a dozen or more binoculars in the 40 years I've been birding but never a pair as sharp and bright like this. Finding this kind of quality binocular at this price point is truly unexpected. Be aware this is a large pair of binoculars but that is to be expected for a set of 10x42 glasses. I had originally decided on the Razor 8x42 UHDs, but then I noticed that the 10x42s were the exact same weight so I opted for the extra power. If size/weight is a concern, you might look at the 8x30 glasses in the Razor UHD line instead. I had decided to buy a better end pair of binoculars after being in Panama this winter, birding in a dense rainforest, which I have done many times before. But this time, the guide and another member of our group were getting more details of small birds in the dark understory than I could with my Nikon Monarch M7 8x30s (a wonderful pair of binoculars that I really love). They were using Swarovski NL Pures and Nikon Premiere series binos. So I decided to treat myself to a top of the line pair of binoculars. I came home with the intention of buying a pair of Swarovski NL Pure binoculars. I had committed to the $3k price tag of the Swarovski's and was doing some last minute comparison shopping and reading reviews. I had the NL Pures in my shopping cart when I started reading all the rave reviews and comparisons of those to the Vortex UHDs. I was hesitant to spend $3K on binoculars because I am hard on them. I drop them, get them rained on, put them down in the mud, etc. etc. They aren't decorations, they are field gear! I also compared the warranties and service reports for both species and was surprised to see that Vortex had a much better warranty policy and process than Swarovski. Vortex fixes/replaces their binoculars with no questions asked.
