Will this work with a laptop? Need the adapter MICON-2? Does a laptop have the 1v power on its mic input?
Asked by: Stan
The Rode Lavalier requires 2 to 5V of plug-in power for operation. It would be best to use a USB audio interface that has a dedicated mic input with a preamp. The interface can supply the proper amount of power for optimum performance and control of the mic. For the MiCon adapter, use the Rode MiCon 5 Connector for Rode MiCon Microphones - XLR (B&H # ROMICON5) which provides an XLR connector and allows the mic to connect to a standard XLR input. For a very basic interface, you can the Polsen XLR-USB-48 XLR to USB Audio Interface (B&H # POXLRUSB48) which is compatible with Mac and Windows, and no drivers are required. It also features a headphone jack with level control for monitoring and the USB cable is included. Please feel free to contact us by phone or through live chat for further assistance and we can help you to find the best options for your application.

How can I wire this instead of using it wirelessly? I know this thing needs power and it won't work when I plug it into a camera with an adapter.
Asked by: Chris
You can use the Rode MiCon 2 Connector for Rode MiCon Microphones (B&H # ROMICON2 / MFR # MICON-2) which will allow you to connect the Rode lavalier mic directly to a 3.5mm TRS mic input on a DSLR or mirrorless camera or a portable recorder and use plug-in power supplied by the input of the camera or recorder.

question

Rode Lavalier Microphone for canon 6d?
Asked by: Anonymous
Works great! Make sure you buy the connectors you need to hook up to a sound recorder or straight in to the 6D. You'll need an extension if you hard line it into the camera but a Zoom H4N should be great as well.

question

My friend gave me his but neither him or I know if it has to have a specific program to work, does it? And can I just plug it in and will it work for iPhone 6plus voice memo?
Asked by: Anonymous
The Lavalier requires a Micon connector to plug into any device. The correct Micon for smartphone use is the Micon 11. Once plugged in, it will become the default audio input device for the iPhone and will work with any recording app.
