Behringer MX882 overview

  • 1Description

The Behringer MX882 MX882 ULTRALINK PRO 8-Channel Splitter/Mixer boasts a variety of flexible features, making the unit flexible enough for use in homes, theaters, conference rooms, houses of worship, P.A. monitoring, live sound reinforcement, and recording.

The MX882 multi-function audio signal router features 6 inputs and outputs which allowing dual usage as a mixer or signal splitter. The signal splitter function allows users to route incoming audio signal, via the main stereo inputs, to any of the available 6 outputs. Servo-balanced, gold-plated XLR and 1/4" TRS inputs and outputs assure quiet, high-quality audio signal. You can use the MX882 as a DI-Box, or as a multi-channel line matching transformer. Every channel features comprehensive 8-segment metering of input gain, with 4-segment metering provided on main in and main output channels.

Splitter and Mixer Function
The MX882 is a versatile problem solver. The unit features 6 mono inputs and can function as a standard mixer or receive incoming signal and distribute it via any of the available 6 outputs. Channels can be individually assigned for either mixing or splitting signal, allowing both functions to operate simultaneously.
Direct Box Feature
Servo Balanced inputs and outputs allow the MX882 to be used as a DI-Box.
Line Matching Transformer Feature
The MX882 can also be used as multi-channel line matching transformer. Line or level matching is necessary when connecting consumer impedance devices, such as cassette players, with professional level devices (consoles, professional digital or analog recorders etc.). The levels are matched between unbalanced to balanced (or vice versa) without any noise or artifacts.
Balanced Input and Output
High quality gold plated, balanced connectors maintain high signal gain structure while ultra low-noise 4580 op amps minimize hum and line noise.
Comprehensive Metering
Every channel features comprehensive 8-segment metering of input gain. 4-segment metering provided on Main In and Main Output Channels.

    Behringer MX882 reviews

    MX882 ULTRALINK PRO 8-Channel Splitter/Mixer is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does a lot for the price If you need a line level rack mixer at this price point, this is pretty much the only game in town. It does a lot for how much it costs. I found if I wanted to do tricky things, like mix inputs 1 & 2 to the left, take the main L output and route that back into input 3, and pan right so that it goes to main R output, you start getting into problems. Evidently there was some crosstalk that I couldn't get rid of. For the price point, didn't expect miracles here. But for standard mixer / splitter work, it seemed to do the job, and on a budget. Just don't expect immaculate quality here.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Using 2 MX882 Units - One as a splitter and one as a mixer We are using 2 of these in a rack. The first unit mixes together 4 inputs from headset feeds, and sends the mixed output to the second unit of the rack. The second unit of the rack functions as a splitter and sends the mixed signal back to each headset. It works very well overall. The only issue we have is that the noise floor is raised significantly if you take the spliter volume knob past 12 oclock on the input of the second unit. Therefore, we do maximum gains on the mix channels so that the send to the 2nd unit is as hot as possible.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to use, Functional and Versatile I purchased the MX822 as an add on to a Crest 20 channel monitor mixer. This allowed me to combine 6 inputs into 2 outputs while maintaining the individual signals for FOH. For this application it does exactly what is advertised. What I would like to see added to this unit: phantom power or phantom power pass thru, higher gain preamp for instrument level.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome little piece of kit As a mobile sound operation, we always look for items that work well, can take a beating, and actually do what they are supposed to; we found that all to be the case in the Ultralink. We use it to split up signal to many amps in our live sound reinforcement operation, even linking several units together when we go big. The options per sound path are great and the unit performs like it isn't even there, as it should be. Behringer did it again!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works as it should We recently replaced this unit for one exactly like it because it all of the sudden had a hum. The old unit was at least five years old. All is working great now.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Serves its purpose well I use it to combine and control panning and levels on several microphones for recording purposes. Phantom power would be a nice feature but for my purpose it wasn't a necessity. I would purchase it again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A lotta audio for the $ I used the MX882 on an HBO production as a DA. It had enough outs and sonic quality required. The metering on each channel gave me the confidence that the signals were getting where they were needed. I had to used it right out of the box and had no problems. I have a few more tests to run and that is the only reason I gave it 4 stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what the Doctor ordered!!!! In the process of cleaning up my processing chain I stumbled across this unsung hero. Wow! I can now separately control volume to up to 6 different zones from a single source using balanced xlr inputs. IT DOES MORE. Quietly!! Very happy I found the MX882 ...
