Mackie CR8BT Reviews

Not Too Shabby

Pros: Value, acceptable low end, construction and sound quality at low to moderately low volume. Cons: Grossly “bright” around 2 kHz. I am using these as a computer speakers for which they are entirely satisfactory. To see what they really sound like I use my Tidal application on iPad directly to the CR8BT input (not using Bluetooth). So basically I am starting with FLAC quality audio. The result is a very satisfying musical experience especially in the midrange area. The audio about 2 kHz is uncomfortably too “bright” with many tunes ESPECIALLY above moderate sound levels. Toeing out the speakers is not helpful because at that frequency the sound is produced by the 8” speaker, not the tweeter. If I equalize the sound at the 2 kHz spectrum down 8 to 12 db (wow, that’s a lot) the improvement is monumental. Having said all of this I am very happy with these speakers and enjoy them for what they are.

Great full sound from a smaller box

Great bass and full sound ambiance from a smaller speaker. I bought this for my studio but I'm thinking they might be good enough for the living room, but I'll probably go larger. Absolutely great sound for the size room I purchased them for
