The VariZoom VZ-PRO-L is a lens remote control system for camcorders. A true variable-speed and manual focus remote control, the VZ-PRO-L utilizes the LANC remote connector to control almost any camcorder including the Canon XL-1, Sony VX-100, and the DSR-200A, as well as select Panasonic camcorders. Owners of these camcorders can use jib arms or tripods and have the same type of control found on cameras costing thousands more. The combination rocker and speed control dial allows you to vary speeds in a single movement—smoothly from a slow crawl to fast and then slow again. It also features manual focus control, universal tripod/crane mounts, and a record light indicator.

VariZoom VZ-Pro Reviews
Great controller but can be even better
I have this controller on all my AG350 camera in production. This is essential for live events the overall build quality is top notch. But some improvements would make it much better IMHO. The speed controller knob can be tricky to set on the fly. A clicked speed controller knob with 10 levels would have been easier to have consistent zoom speed every time is much better, and allows the tech Director to time the shots better. The zoom rocker switch can be difficult to press due to the tension. A lighter rocker switch or a left right rotary rocker similar to Fujinon lens controller would be much easier to control. But overall for this price point, it's decent. I did have to send a brand new one back for replacement due to the speed controller knob sticking. B&H is always really good with RMAs.
Never again buying this
I've bought at least a dozen of these in the past as we use them on telescoping tripods during sports productions. I really like them when they work, but the design flaws make them inoperable and untrustworthy after a length of time. The cable coming out of the casing pinches overtime, breaking the thin wires and making the controller hit and miss on working, before it fails. The record button is also very inconsistent when pushed....most of the time it stops and starts, but many times during a game it doesn't. I do like the big feel of it, the ability to put the camera in sleep mode, but the basic design flaws make it fail over time sooner than it should....
