After Replacing The BEAM 2 With The Arc Ultra, I Finally Realized How Good Of A Soundbar The Beam 2 Is. We Use Both Sound Systems With SONOS Symfonisk Rear Speakers, And I Bought The Arc Ultra To (hopefully) Get A More Realistic And Not Virtual Atmos Effect.
Even Dialed All The Way Up To 10, I Found The Height Effect To Be Mweh. Mind You, This Is After Running Trueplay, And Running Tests Playing The Usual Atmos Demo Videos. Our Ceilings Are Average Height And Are Perfectly Horizontal, So The Sound Should Bounce Off Nicely. But I Wasn't Blown Away, Especially After All The Hype Created By The Countless Reviews I Watched Before Spending So Much Money.
The Same Can Be Said About The Purported Improved Bass Response. I Know There's This Revolutionary Dutch Technology Involved, But Again, I Wasn't That Impressed. Audiophiles Will No Doubt Tell Me I Should Invest In A Subwoofer And Two Era 300's To Meet My Expectations. But If You're Like Me And You Are On A Limited Budget, You Try To Buy The Best You Can Based On What You Can Afford.
Don't Get Me Wrong, The Ultra Is A Good Sounding Soundbar. The Dialogue Is Clear, The Soundstage Is Wider, And It Will Fill Your Room If You Let It. But, Especially If You Already Have A SONOS System In Place, It Is Not Plug And Play. I Had To Unpair And Repair My Rear Speakers Before My New Soundbar Would Work In Unison Which Nobody Had Told Me. Now That Everything Is Connected, I Am Enjoying My Home Theater Setup, But It's Not The Big Step Up In Sound Quality I Had Dreamt Of.

Does the Ultra support regular ARC? My TV is a little older and came out before eARC.

The Sonos Arc Ultra Soundbar (Black), B&H # SOARCULTBLK, can be connected to a standard HDMI ARC port, but Dolby Atmos audio is only supported with a full eARC connection. If this soundbar is connected to a standard ARC port, then the audio output will be limited to a 5.1-channel configuration.
