Godox F600BI Overview

A slim and versatile fixture designed to give flexibility in any environment, this foldable, 4 x 4' KNOWLED F600Bi Bi-Color LED Light Panel from Godox delivers convenience and portability for film and television professionals. This version features the flexible LED mat body alone, with no additional accessories in the box. Use it to replace the LED mat of your F600Bi kit if necessary. The 600W LED panel light has a wide CCT range adjustable from 2700 to 8500K and offers impeccable color rendition with a CRI and TLCI of 96. The F600Bi also features stepless brightness dimming from 0 to 100% and four dimming curves—linear, S-curve, exponential, and logarithmic. The light also comes with 11 preprogrammed special effects modes.

In addition to local control on the optional controller power supply, the F600Bi supports industry-standard control protocols such as DMX512 and LumenRadio CRMX Control, as well as built-in 2.4 GHz wireless control and Bluetooth support, enabling compatibility with the optional Godox RC-R9 Remote and the Godox Light App. The F600Bi is rated at IP65 for dust and water resistance, ensuring the light bead and controller remain safe and operational in adverse conditions. This LED mat-only version requires an optional control box and other accessories to function properly.

If you’re looking for a nice soft big source for studio use, this will serve you well. If you own a truck package, look elsewhere. We were excited to add this to our package until we realized how cumbersome and bulky this light was. It takes about 10 mins to build and that’s being generous. If you don’t want to take the time to build it every time, there is no good way to store it that’s practical and doesn’t eat up a ton of room. The pin on the back doesn’t come off easily and this eats up about 6” of space if you want to store the frame somewhere without disassembly. To top it all off, Godox didn’t think it was inportant to include the ballast mount with the light. Instead, you have to order it separately and it’s on back order. We get the mount in and the ballast mounts are not universal for their ballasts like aputure. So still no mount and have to return this one because godox engineers can’t think to simplify their design. But this wouldn’t have mattered if they had just included the $40 mount in the first place. All this to say, we’re out on godox products going forward.

Questionable quality control, needs fan firmware update

3 big things I didn't like: 1) The fan never turns off. Even when the light is off in standby mode (which you need it to be in to use the phone app), the fan runs, very audibly, the entire time. There is no way to change the fan settings (as of the firmware I was on before I returned, anyway) through the control box or through the phone app. It's got one setting and that's Loud. Probably 4 times as loud as an Aputure 600d running at the same brightness. 2) I practiced taking down the whole setup and putting it back together one time. It was just me, and it was just practice so there was no rush. The grid broke in three places. It was already a pretty questionable grid. 3) For mine personally: The frame wasn't machined quite properly which made it impossible to actually mount parallel with the ground without a ton of unnecessary grip work.  I gotta hand it to Godox though having 600 watts for a bi color 4x4 is quite nice. If it had g/m correction I probably would have stuck it out and tried to get a replacement frame, etc. but it was not worth it for what it is now.

How do you power the option that says Mat Alone? Does it come with cables and power block/controller?

The Godox KNOWLED F600Bi Bi-Color LED Light Panel (4 x 4', Flexible LED Mat Body Only) is just the light mat. The unit will require a power supply and controller to work.

How many connect cables can be used together to get the controller further away from the panel?

Godox does not list the longest you can go with the cable that goes between the Godox KNOWLED F600Bi Bi-Color LED Light Panel (4 x 4') and the controller. In general, it is best to not go further than ten feet.
