Quickly identify new comments or new replies with the blue dot and show your support to a comment with a Like reaction.
Dynamic Charts with Dynamic Arrays
In Excel 2024, you can now reference Dynamic Arrays in charts to help visualize datasets of variable length. Charts automatically update to capture all data when the array recalculates, rather than being fixed to a specific number of data points.
Text and Array Functions
There are now 14 new text and array functions in Excel 2024 that are designed to help you manipulate text and arrays in your worksheets. These functions make it easier to extract and split text strings and enable you to combine, reshape, resize, and select arrays with ease.
New IMAGE Function
Now in Excel 2024, you can add pictures to your workbooks using copy and paste or you can use the IMAGE function to pull pictures from the web. You can also easily move, resize, sort, and filter within an Excel table without the image moving around.
Faster Workbooks
The speed and stability of Excel 2024 workbooks has been improved, reducing the delays and hang-ups that arise when multiple workbooks with independent calculations are open at the same time.
Present with cameo
With cameo, you can insert your live camera feed directly on a PowerPoint slide. You can then apply the same effects to your camera feed as you can to a picture or other object, including formatting, transitions, and styles.
Create a Video in Recording Studio
Record your PowerPoint presentation — or just a single slide — and capture voice, ink gestures, and your video presence. Export your recorded presentation as a video file and play it for your audience.
Embed Microsoft Stream (on SharePoint) Videos
Add Microsoft Stream (on SharePoint) videos to the presentation to enhance and enrich your storytelling.
Add Closed Captions for Video and Audio (Windows Only)
You can now add closed captions or subtitles to videos and audio files in your presentations. Adding closed captions makes your presentation accessible to a larger audience, including people with hearing disabilities and those who speak languages other than the one in your video.
Recover Your Word Session
When Word 2024 closes unexpectedly before you save your most recent changes, Word automatically opens all the documents you had open when the process closed, allowing you to continue where you left off.

Office 2024 OK after installation hurdles

By Leigh

I think Microsoft is underhanded in its determination to "tax" users of its "permanent" license for Office 2019. With much verbiage about why it would stop working (after today, July 13, 2026), Microsoft announced that users of Office 2019 should buy a new copy of Office 2024. I reluctantly did, though I didn't understand why the old version would stop working. It turns out that Microsoft has a convoluted and opaque scheme for copy protecting/licensing Office, which seems to involve a network check to one or more Microsoft servers. I had to remove and re-install Office 2024 three times and it still hung with a blank window when I tried to start it. No error message, just a blank window, doing nothing useful. As a programmer myself, I found that behavior by this supposedly "commercial" software unacceptable. Nevertheless, there it was. After much more head-bashing, I dug more into Microsoft install help to uncover a suggestion to create a new administrator-capable user on my Mac. I did, without much enthusiasm. Now, Office 2024 would actually start and function properly, and when I went back to my normal user login, it now also worked! Could Microsoft possibly create a more complex and error-prone install and activation process? Yes, though it probably would be hard for their legions of thousands of employees. So, now I have a copy of Office 2024 that actually works and may work for a few more years. And it works pretty much similarly to the older Office 2019 that they are now "bricking". I'm at a loss to figure out what functionality I actually paid Microsoft for, other than my ability to keep using Office software. Pretty sneaky, Microsoft. They are pushing "Microsoft 365", endlessly during the entire install and activation procedure. Apparently Office 2024 itself is identical to Microsoft 365, except for the seemingly convoluted, complex, and opaque licensing, which remains hidden somewhere in the software. Unfortunately, I still find myself swearing a lot when using Office, especially Excel, which often seems to work in some way that I find illogical. Did I really pay for all this frustration? Apparently, yes.

Works until OS update makes it not compatible

UPDATE your operating system BEFORE installing! I am buying this for the SECOND TIME, despite having bought an earlier version for this very same computer, BECAUSE, eventually Apple upgraded the OS one too many times, and my former single-user-1-computer version Office, no longer worked on the SAME computer. However, I got about 3-years on the first purchase, and it fulfilled all my needs, and if I get 3 years or more again, then I will be satisfied. I am a very simple user. No business. No school. No job. Retired. I just want to write letters, copy and save things from the internet, make plans for vacations and have easy to organize file format. I use PowerPoint once every few years to make a presentation to a club. I use Excel, when I want a chart to tabulate something like a list of all pets I ever had. However, you COULD pound away all day and be a heavy user. It does not care. Plus I do not have to be online to use Office. I REALLY prefer Microsoft Office or I would quit using it, because it made me really, really, mad to have to repurchase OFFICE for the VERY SAME COMPUTER! I HATE the subscription model for software, because it overcharges light users of a program, and built in obsolescence makes me really really angry. I used Apple "Notes" for about 2 years, before coming back to repurchase. But, Apple Notes does not allow as much formatting as I use, and I prefer to store my documents in appropriate files, not inside Notes in chronological order, where I need to scan a list to find my document. After 2 years, the storage issue became a huge headache with Apple Notes.

Is there a way that I can keep my documents from automatically being stored into the cloud?
Asked by: Maria
Yes, you can prevent Microsoft Office Home 2024 (1-User License, Product Key Code), BH #MIEP206820, from automatically saving files to the cloud. You can do this by opening a new or existing document in any office app. Then in the upper-left corner, toggle AutoSave to Off. Then go to the File > Options and choose the Save tab and check the box: “Save to Computer by default.”
