Construction and Optical Design
The lens's internally focusing, internally zooming construction optimizes it for video shooters who intend to mount it on a gimbal. Two floating focus Nano USM motors drive the Dual Pixel CMOS autofocus and can operate independently of one another, resulting in fast and quiet autofocus that also benefits video. The construction also suppresses focus breathing, maintaining the integrity of the image as you move through the zoom range, and a manual, lockable iris ring ensures the integrity of the exposure as you shoot.
Optically, the lens has 18 elements in 15 groups, incorporating two super ultralow dispersion elements, another ultralow dispersion element to minimize chromatic aberrations, and three additional aspherical lenses to ensure the highest edge-to-edge image quality. Canon's own Air Sphere and Super Spectra Coatings are applied to the front element to reduce ghosting and flare, while a fluorine coating repels oil and water to protect the lens.

coming from EF versions, this feels like a toy. the zoom ring feels like it break at any moment compared to how solid the EF felt. At this price point in kinda dissapointed honestly. Yes, its light and finds focus super fast...just the build quality feels like a $800 lens

The main disadvantage when connecting the Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM Z Lens (White, Canon RF) and the Canon Extender RF 2x is the increase in the aperture. The sharpness is barely affected, and all other electronic communications remain the same.

Hi I would like some comparisons / benefits of purchasing either the canon rf 2.8 70-200 L IS USM versus the canon rf 2.8 70-200 L IS USM Z lense. I have a canon R3 body and my focus is outdoor sports photography. I am aware that currently the Z model is @ 3,000 $ ( $500 more than the L USM @ 2,500 $. Any advice would be appreciated . Thank you

The tripod foot on the Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM Z Lens (White) is not Arca Swiss. You will need to get universal Arca Swiss style plate for it like, Really Right Stuff L85 Multiuse Fore-Aft Plate with 1/4"-20 Screw, BH #REL85PLATE.
