previous review seemed to disappear? I've had numerous issues with this lens. the first one I received I had to send back because of stiffness. the second one I also had to mail back to Hong Kong to get it serviced because the focus was going out of focus during one part of the lens's zoom. the image looks pretty great when all is working. one big downside is that the flange is quite large so I am unable to get this properly adapted to my FX6. I can punch in on the 4K footage I guess, but Laowa confirmed there are 0 adapters/expanders on the market that can fit this lens from PL to E, super35 to full frame. it's nice and lightweight, just like I was hoping for.

This lens is really nice. It's the perfect price point, the size is great, the optics are solid and i really just can't find much I don't like about this lens.
I know some people have had some complaints about compatibility with some PL Adapters on the market but In general, I just never assume that all lenses can work with drop in filter adapters. If it works thats certainly a bonus, but I generally never count on that. It does work with some of them. For the record this does work with some Rear mounted filter systems, but you just have to know how much clearance your particular system has.
This is a great zoom range and that makes it a fantastic lens for Doc work or going around shooting B-Roll. The 17mm allows you to get some nice decently wide shots, and then being able to move into a 50 is great for some close ups with some nice lens compression. The look is pretty neutral. I wouldn't say its clinical, but its not so funky either. It just has a nice look to it all on its own.
This is a great zoom to have in your kit. A lot of the previous reviews have fair criticisms but seem to largely be compatibility concerns. If you're throwing this on something like a RED Komodo or KX or a FX30, and use a normal PL Adapter, you will be totally ok.
