I spent way too much time researching a slider. I wanted one for two reasons - to add repeated motion for interviews and to add controlled and repeatable motion for b-roll and establishing shots. It's MAYBE ok in the first setting, especially if you are just using the built-in controller and not the app (avoid the app at all costs). But in any other use-case, it's horrible. At super slow speeds (for timelapse) the tilt moves at a higher speed than the pan or slider basically making the PONS head useless for timelapse. If you try to use the app and then go back to the controller, the entire thing basically bricks and requires a full restart. Every time you power up, you have to reconnect the PONS head - we spent about 20 minutes trying to get it to connect while a client waited (and I had spent several hours before the shoot making sure I understood how to operate the slider). And finally, the slider speed is just too slow for any meaningful b-roll shots. It needs to be about 50% faster (the pan and tilt are sufficiently fast). Unfortunately I did not keep the box it shipped in so now I am stuck with this brick of a unit that I'll likely never use. So if you do want to try it out, make sure you keep that cardboard box so you can ship it back when it embarrasses you in front of your clients.
