I love Pelican stuff but the fabric choice they made for this bag is simply awful. I have used it on exactly one trip - 2 flights down to Cancun/2 flights back... Cincy to Dallas to Cancun and back... and the bags are going out to Goodwill... The outside looks AWFUL from the black rubber grime of luggage handling. That wouldn't be THAT bad except that the fabric is also VERY difficult to clean compared to other soft side materials [e.g. North Face/Patagonia]. On other fabrics you can just spray and wipe... the Pelican requires some strong effort as the discoloration is really lodged down into the fabric. I don't want to have to return from a trip & immediately spend a day scrubbing the grime off the luggage... I've had some bags for many years, decades, that were never as dirty as this one got in one trip. I had the big bag, 28" in sand, and the smaller rolling bag also in Sand which we also checked. I'm giving both Pelican bags away to Goodwill and have picked up new bags made with a better material for international travel. I mean, functionally, the bags are solid, as I would expect from a Pelican bag -which is why I'm giving them 2 stars - but aesthetically they looked good BEFORE we left... and now...not so much... 1 Star on the fabric/post travel grime removal

The Pelican AEGIS 28" Check-In Rolling Hybrid Duffel (Black) is too large as a carry-on. The general exterior carry-on size is 22x14x9 inches. The best thing to do is to contact your airline, as they might have a different size they prefer.
