Vaonis Vespera II Observation Station

Boasting a higher resolution and larger field of view than its predecessor model, the Vespera II Observation Station from Vaonis is a lightweight celestial observation and photography device small enough to fit in a backpack. Smart and fully automated, Vespera II is controlled by a mobile app, with imagery viewed on a tablet or phone rather than through an optical eyepiece. It turns automatically to the celestial object you want to see and tracks it to compensate for the earth's rotation while you observe and take photos.

Rechargeable and weighing just 11 lb, Vespera II makes it easy to explore and observe the night sky anywhere in the world, take your own photos of celestial objects, learn about the cosmos, and share your discoveries in one place. It features autofocus and supports the stacking of live images for enhanced detail and color. Vespera II uses your mobile's GPS, star pattern recognition, and astrometry to calibrate itself. Simply press the button, and you're ready for astronomical observation in about five minutes.

Vespera Features
Pointing and Tracking
Vespera II integrates GoTo technology and automatically tracks your stellar object, compensating for the Earth's rotation, and displays imagery on your tablet or phone.
Autofocus Technology
No need to manually focus; Vespera II automatically locks in tack-sharp focus on the object you're observing.
Auto Initialization
Using your mobile device's GPS, star pattern recognition, and astrometry to calibrate itself, Vespera II is ready for observation and photography in five minutes.
Sony IMX585 8.3MP Sensor
Vespera II uses a Sony sensor developed for extreme low light, offering 8.3MP resolution, a 1/1.2 format, and a 2.9µ pixel size.
Power Supply
Power is supplied by a built-in 3250mAh, 23Wh battery that charges via a 5/9/12/15/20V USB-C PD port with a user-supplied AC adapter and cable. The runtime is four hours.
Weather Resistant
Vespera II is water resistant and automatically switches off when it's raining.
Tripod Compatible
The Vespera II is fitted with a 3/8"-16 tripod attachment thread. The required tripod weight capacity is 11 lb.
Singularity App
The Control Room
Singularity is your control room, the place where you decide everything. Very intuitive and user-friendly, you can easily access any stellar object in the catalog. You will get personalized recommendations on what to observe according to your geolocation and the astronomical calendar, as well as notes about the secrets of the cosmos.
Catalog of Objects
Choose your destination among thousands of stellar objects in the regularly updated catalog. The Pillars of Creation, the Tulip Nebula, the Andromeda galaxy—what would you like to explore next?
Image Live Stacking
It only takes a few seconds for Vespera II to deliver the first image of your destination before stacking up dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of others in real time to gradually reveal the details and colors of the selected object. Whether within a few minutes or over several hours, you decide what level of detail you want to achieve in your final image.

Vaonis Vespera II Reviews

Vespera II makes me happy!

Wow! I was skeptical as to the results I would get, but no more. I live in an area where I can barely see major constellations like Orion. Once I had the telescope charged and the app set up, I set the Vespera in my back yard and turned it on. Make sure you have a good tripod and that it is level. What I saw in the first 5 minutes blew my socks off. It went through its location and focus process. Then I was enjoying the Horse head nebula. I find it fascinating to watch the stacking process on my pad. Within the first few exposures I was seeing things that would take me hours in post-processing! Am I happy with the results? You bet I am! Couple of drawbacks: Had to download the complete manual on line. (Prefer printed) Battery life was shorter than I expected but works fine if I continue using while plugged into the charger. Make sure you get a proper charger and tripod when you order. They only provide a cable and mine came with no tripod. That being said, I am absolutely impressed with the Vespera II. Its easy set-up and user-friendly interface is great. And I get to capture outer space in the comfort of my living room!

Amazing

I’ve gotten some decent shots of M42 with my canon R5 and 600mm Sigma. Obviously that’s a stretch for a camera. This telescope has the feel of an Apple product. The images have been amazing and the ease of set up and use is dirt simple. The SeeStar is about 1/3 the price and I did a lot of research on it. While it produces cool shots and is smaller this is well worth the price. I don’t think the new pro version (spec wise) will be worth double this price. It’s a perfect sweet spot to get in to Astrophotography without having to add many components like on a traditional telescope set up. Couldn’t be happier. I would like to see in the future them come up with a larger version with a longer focal length. Buy it.

I have a pretty good full tripod for that works with Sony A7 I've and a 50 to 400 mm lens. Is it compatible and adequate?
Asked by: Frederick
The Vaonis Vespera II Observation Station is made to be used on a mini tripod, like this one listed in the accessories for the telescope: https://bhpho.to/4bugbxo. You will be able to mount the Vaonis Vespera II onto a full-size tripod, but you would need to have the legs at a wide angle.

I know Bluetooth is required, but is wifi also needed 'in the field'?
Asked by: Tom
It creates a wifi hotspot which you can connect to. Its supposed to reach 98 ft. radius. I can easily connect with mine while sitting on the couch 70 feet from the backyard. You can also disconnect from it and use your house wifi without having to stop the Vespera.
