GVM introduces the SD600S II Daylight LED Monolight as a second generation of the SD600S with improved features. The 5600K CCT fixture still provides high-quality lighting and a CRI rating of 97 for accurate color rendering. However, the SD600S II version comes with an upgraded control box, as well as an enhanced light body and power cable. A range of preset effects are available for a variety of lighting simulations, plus linear, logarithmic, exponential, and S-dimming curves. Control options include intuitive onboard, DMX, or remote adjustments via Bluetooth using the GVM app. The control box has DMX in and out ports and two V-mount battery mounts for optional batteries, making it possible to use the SD600S II in locations where AC power isn't available.

GVM SD600S II Overview

GVM introduces the SD600S II Daylight LED Monolight as a second generation of the SD600S with improved features. The 5600K CCT fixture still provides high-quality lighting and a CRI rating of 97 for accurate color rendering. However, the SD600S II version comes with an upgraded control box, as well as an enhanced light body and power cable. A range of preset effects are available for a variety of lighting simulations, plus linear, logarithmic, exponential, and S-dimming curves. Control options include intuitive onboard, DMX, or remote adjustments via Bluetooth using the GVM app. The control box has DMX in and out ports and two V-mount battery mounts for optional batteries, making it possible to use the SD600S II in locations where AC power isn't available.

Daylight Output
It provides 26,000 lux at 3.3' from the bare bulb and 124,000 lux with the included standard reflector.
Easy & Advanced Control Methods
The light supports onboard, DMX, wireless remote control, and a Bluetooth app. For advanced users and more complex setups, the fixture offers DMX-512 control mode with 8- and 16-bit precision. The light also works with group control and other compatible GVM devices supporting Bluetooth mesh networking.

After two broken lights the 3rd light finally works. The light is bright and overall looks good, especially through a soft-box. This is an update to my prior two star review. Just be aware you’ll want to test the light before taking it onto a shoot.

Great CoB light for the price

We already have a LightStorm 600d and needed a second, high powered daylight fixture to compliment the 600d. A colleague had the GVM SD600S and so I had seen it in action before. At the special B&H price, it was an obvious choice to buy the GVM light as a second 600. The light is solidly built, and the fan is quiet. At 100% brightness it is slightly less bright than our LS600, but not enough that you can tell by eye (used a Sekonic light meter). The cables are plenty long enough, and the connectors are solid. The very few negatives are that the Bowens mount is difficult to get to click onto whatever modifier you're using. With a fit of fiddling around, it will work, but the spring mechanism is not great. The cover for the power connector on the back of the light, seems brittle and cheap. I'm sure it will break quickly with everyday usage - fortunately, that's not a deal-breaker. So far, we're really happy with this light.

The GVM SD600S II Daylight LED Monolight does not come with batteries but uses two V-mount batteries. This is an example of a dual V-mount battery charger, the IndiPRO Tools V-Mount Dual Battery Charger with XLR Output, BH #INPD2BCH. If you do not have the batteries, this is a kit with the two batteries and the charger, IndiPRO Tools 2 x Micro-Series 270Wh Li-Ion Batteries & Dual Charger Kit (V-Mount), BH # IN2MSV270B.
