McDSP AE600 Active EQ V6 (Native, Download)

The native version and electronic download of the AE600 Active EQ V6 from McDSP is a virtual-processor plug-in that features six, fully-overlapping fixed and active EQ bands with each band having its own gain, frequency, Q, and mode controls. It can be utilized on Mac and Windows computers by producers, engineers, and musicians for applications such as recordings, films, broadcast TV, voice-overs, post-production, and more.

The AE600's active EQ response is determined by each band's threshold, attack, and release settings. A ratio control determines input signal level sensitivity to further articulate how the active EQ will reach maximum active equalization. Other EQ mode options include parametric, proportional Q parametric, 5x Q parametric, Baxandall shelving EQ, vintage-styled EQ, X-style shelving EQ, Baxandall shelving EQ plus filtering, and high- and low-pass filtering.

Additionally, peak signal text readouts for each active EQ band's key signal allow for quick setup of each band's active EQ threshold and are located underneath band dynamics plots. Input and output controls, individual band bypass, band control linking, and band key signal monitoring round out the features of the AE600.

Note:
McDSP plug-ins work with iLok Cloud. AAX, AU and VST plug-ins work with iLok Cloud.

Reducing Sibilance
More aggressive de-essing settings for background vocals allow the lead vocal to stand out more—the lead vocalist articulation comes out, while the background vocals remain in the background
Shift
When using DE555 HF-only mode, the frequency-shift control will move the HF-only processing as much as one octave below or above the selected key frequency. This is very useful for attenuating different frequencies other than the original key frequency
Smooth Guitar Tone
Fret squeaks produced by the guitar player can be reduced using a de-esser. The same tips apply as when de-essing a vocal or dialog track—too much can sound unnatural, so use it lightly

Signal Dropouts
Any gate, when set too aggressively, can cause incoming audio not to pass to the output. The FutzBox gate is especially suited for such applications
McDSP ML8000 Advanced Limiter V6 (Native, Download)

The native version, electronic download of the ML8000 Advanced Limiter V6 from McDSP uses two completely separate stages of processing for peak-level audio adjustment. It can be utilized on Mac and Windows computers by producers, engineers, and musicians for applications such as recordings, films, broadcast TV, voice-overs, post-productions, and more.

The first stage of the ML8000 features a multiband limiter with 8 bands of active processing. Each band has its own gain and threshold control. Additional overall band controls include release-time and limiter modes, which are calibrated similarly to the modes of the ML4000 limiter. An additional focus mode provides articulation changes on how each band tracks and limits the incoming signal.

The second stage of the ML8000 is a Master Limiter that recreates a ML4000 limiter algorithm. It also includes a filter design to reduce peak distortion. The 8 bands of processing are controlled from the response plot, large gain faders, and convenient threshold markers for each band's input meter. In addition, visual feedback, multiple metering sources, and an intuitive user interface make the ML8000 an easy choice for your engineering needs.

Note:
McDSP plug-ins work with iLok Cloud. AAX, AU and VST plug-ins work with iLok Cloud.

Clean Dialog
Using the NR800 will not impart any audio artifacts such as chirping, even at aggressive settings. This makes the NR800 a good choice for the first pass at the dialog track. Well balanced removal of hissing and rumbles are just a few clicks away.
Field Adjustments
Sometimes the environment in which the action occurs is less than ideal, when it comes to noise contamination. The NR800 is great for taking out the rumble and hiss of wind, pulling down the levels of ambient noise, and getting the desired sound more focused.
Restoration
The NR800 is well configured to deal with subtle background noises, including those found in older music recordings (and new ones!). Often the best results for reducing perceived noise come from small adjustments instead of aggressive ones.
Interface
  • The adjustable and very steep high-pass and low-pass filters are perfectly suited for separating noise from the desired audio
  • The NR800 plot view shows the high-pass and low-pass filter responses and the noise-reduction amount at any given time
McDSP ML4000 (Native v7) Mastering Limiter Plug-In

Use the ML4000 from McDSP for music, mastering, post, and live sound. This plug-in features two plug-ins, the ML1 and ML4. The ML4 is a multiband gate expander and compressor that feeds into the ML1 mastering limiter. This allows you to work with a single plug-in to push your sound without creating unwanted distortion.

This is the Native version of the plug-in, which supports AAX Native, AAX DSP, AU, and VST3, on compatible DAWs. This plug-in runs on Windows or Mac systems, Apple silicon, and the latest Intel processors.

Features
  • Brickwall lookahead limiter

Perfect Mastering
The Release, Knee, and Mode controls affect the subjective sound of the limiter. The multiband dynamics processor can be used to augment or correct the input signal and best prepare it for treatment by the mastering limiter
Unique EQ
While there is no EQ section in the ML4, the crossovers and the band output gains are the basic controls of a graphic EQ of sorts. The output levels of each band can be altered, and then are recombined in the mastering limiter section
RTA
Use the Real-Time Analyzer to monitor how the frequency spectrum is being affected. The RTA feature is only available for AAX Native, AU, and VST3 plug-in formats
McDSP SA-2 Dialog Processor - Recorded Voice Enhancement Plug-In (Native, Download)

The SA-2 Dialog Processor from McDSP is a plug-in based on the hardware originally conceived by Academy Award winning recording mixer Mike Minkler. Used on over one hundred major motion pictures, the software is designed to improve the overall sound of recorded speech, be it in a movie, television show, documentary, or for that matter, any creative media production involving the spoken word. It is equally useful for vocals, it can be used for adjusting the timbre of any track, and it delivers a de-esser and a multi-frequency compressor.

The processor is made up of five-bands of specifically placed active equalization, configured in a variety of modes to best address common issues of dialog. Each band has a threshold control to determine at what signal level the active equalizer begins to affect the signal, and an enable button to quickly audition the effect of any given band. Two mode selectors allow for controlling the ballistics of the active equalization, and for placing the five bands at specific points in the frequency spectrum. Finally, input and output controls are available for overall adjustment.

Five independent bands of strategic active equalization
Multiple process modes for a variety of applications
Unique signal reduction metering
Double-precision processing
Ultra-low latency
