JBL Stage 240B Overview

The JBL Stage 240B 2-Way Bookshelf Speakers in espresso finish are the smaller bookshelf option for the JBL Stage Series speakers and are well suited for use as rear surround speakers, or as mains in smaller spaces. The 240B is comprised of JBL's 4.5" Polycellulose ribbed cone woofer to handle the bass and midrange, with a 1" anodized aluminum tweeter coupled to the Stage 2 HDI horn for the high frequencies.

The Stage 240B features sturdy 5-way binding posts to connect to your amplifier or receiver. The bass-reflex design utilizes a flared rear-firing port to reduce chuffing and improve bass response. For placement on shelves and other flat surfaces, anti-slip pads are provided to secure the speaker and reduce vibration. Alternatively, the 240B speakers include wall brackets and a 1/4-20 threaded insert for wall mounting.

1" Anodized Aluminum Tweeter in HDI Waveguide
Through intense research of previous waveguide designs, JBL has developed a new complex geometry that improves directivity and reduces diffraction. In the Stage 240B speaker, the Stage 2 HDI Horn is coupled to a 1" anodized aluminum dome tweeter. This design offers a neutral frequency response both on and off axis.
Additional Features
  • Floating front baffle design
  • Magnetically attached grille
  • Foam plugs included to plug bass-reflex port when wall mounting

JBL Stage 240B Reviews

Clear vocals ,and trebles ,Beautiful look

I bought these speakers to pair them with my Denon CEOL N11DAB .I placed these nice looking latte speakers on a console . The first thing I notice was the clarity of the vocals . The trebles are clear too . The bass was missing at first and I thought this speaker was lacking bass . But when I use a 40-60hz bass speaker burn in track I noticed that the speaker changed dramatically . I noticed a dramatic increase in bass frequencies and a decrease in brightness in the speakers. I think the mid-bass drivers in these speakers are too tight, and even after 2 months of use, the bass doesn't increase while other frequencies do. However, when the bass speakers are activated, these speakers shine. I definitely recommend these little gems .

Clean and Accurate

I'm using the Stage 240B speakers as the surround speakers in a 5.1 home theater setup with an MA510 AV receiver and other JBL Stage 2 series speakers. The sound quality is amazing, clean and accurate with plenty of volume. My placement options were limited. Stands aren't a good option, and one of the side walls is an exterior wall that I can't fish for wiring and has a window where I'd need to put the speaker, so the rear wall a few feet behind the sitting position is the only realistic option. The speakers are mounted 7 feet high at about a 25 degree angle behind the ideal listening position, and face forward instead of pointing at the listening position. The height and direction is not a problem, the 5.1 surround sound performance is great after completing speaker level balancing and room equalization. I've learned that the quality of 5.1 home theater audio depends heavily on the job done at the studio creating the five channel audio mix. Not all movies and broadcasts are created equal. Where they've done a good job, this JBL 5.1 surround system really delivers. It is incredibly like sitting in a movie theater immersed in audio, and I just love it.
