Supporting up to 10 Gb/s connections through its SFP+ ports, the HMX8000R is designed to reach distances of up to 6.2 miles using single-mode (OS1/OS2) fiber, or about 984 feet with multimode (OM4) cable. That bandwidth provides high-quality UHD 4K video transmissions with up to two monitors connected to the DisplayPort outputs. It also provides low-latency connections for keyboards, mice, and other peripherals connected to the USB-A ports. There are also individual 3.5mm headphone and mic jacks with audio being transferred through the rear 3.5mm S/PDIF port.
