This little ball head attaches to the top of your camera via the hot/cold shoe mount and can also work on top of a small tripod with a 1/4 screw. It can be rotated a full 180º rather than just 90º, as most other ball heads of this type, which makes it more flexible. It's also very sturdy and well made. I really enjoy the esthetics of the design of it, in case that kind of thing matters to you.
