I bought this product with the hopes that I could replace / upgrade my Wooden Camera NATO rail monitor mount, but I'll be returning this. A few glaring issues with the product: 1. When using this with a SmallHD 503 and the old style SmallHD attachment, the product doesn't mount the monitor far enough away from the NATO rail, so you cannot plug in an SDI cable or 2pin LEMO and have any usable tilting range of the monitor. 2. The 15mm spud attachments that you mount onto the monitor are actually slightly larger than the industry-standard 15mm. This means you can't use the spud with any other 3rd party 15mm rod mounts, which is a huge bummer. I'd love to be able to pull my monitor out from the NATO sled and mount it onto a rod mount that is on the AC side of my camera, for example. Why they made this proprietary is beyond me. 3. The build quality isn't great (definitely feels cheaper than my Wooden Camera evf sled), and the tilting mechanism is just metal-on-metal with a friction clamp, so it feels very rough to tilt the monitor. I also have little confidence that this 15mm clamp built into the sled will hold its shape over the years, as the metal feels quite cheap and this is a common issue with 15mm rod mounts. I was really hoping to find a monitor mounting solution with this Mid49 product, but I unfortunately can't recommend this to others in its current iteration. I hope Mid49 goes back to the drawing board with this one.
I love this connector. I don’t like using EVFs and prefer onboard 5”. When going shoulder rig, this is the perfect solution for an Ultra 5 (and other similar monitors) along with an extended nato rail attached to the top handle to put it far enough from the camera to operator effectively,
