Well featured AMD AM5 Mini-ITX motherboard

Overall, I am quite happy with this compact motherboard, but with one huge caveat!! I built up the computer on the motherboard box. So just the motherboard, RAM, CPU Cooler, SSD and power-supply. I used a motherboard speaker, so that I could hear any POST beeps during initial bring-up (since there is no debug code, just debug leds). In the PDF manual of the motherboard (since a paper copy isn't included...cheapskates!), there is page called Motherboard Layout. I see the SPEAKER label, and the standard 4-pinss, so plug in my speaker. Anyways, during power-up, I run into all sorts of issues, where It would POST, then not again, then only one stick of RAM would work in the first slot, then not the next time. Tried another kit, and the same behavior. I then looked for how to clear the CMOS, and unfortunately, there was no button on the back (just the Q-Flash button). The CMOS battery is hidden, so you can't easily remove it. I then go back to the Motherboard Layout page, and see that the CLR_CMOS is pointing to the same 4-pin header that was being used for the Speaker! I turn delve deeper into the manual, and see that they have allocated the two upper pins for SPEAKER and two lower pins for CLR_CMOS! So you need to rewire the 4-pin speaker device so that it uses two adjacent pins, versus the STANDARD implementation that has been used for *decades*, which is using the two end pins, and then the middle pins are blank! I removed the speaker, and suddenly everything works as expected! Installation of Windows went fine from there. I selected the option in BIOS to launch the Gigabyte Installer when Windows starts, so that I could just choose what to install w.r.t. drivers and utilities. I wanted to keep that dreaded Norton away from my system. In addition to the annoying issue above with the speaker pinout, I didn't like that the CPU_FAN was so far away from the CPU socket. And it is lacking in USB ports, even though there appears to be plenty of room on the back. There is only one rear TypeC 10G port. I would have liked a DisplayPort, in addition to the HDMI, as for a SFF system, this could be helpful if one is just using on-board video. I do like the easy plug in WiFi antennas, and the stand which you can place away from the rear I/O panel, thus receiving less interference.

This motherboard paired perfectly with the 9800x3d and 64gb ddr5 6000mhz CL30 Corsair kit. Enabled EXPO with no additional tweaking needed. Flew through Testmem5 stability test with ease. Coming from Asus, the Gigabyte bios actually impressed me as well. Easy to navigate and doesn’t look bad at all. Was able to get a decent overclock with PBO right off the bat too with the 9800x3d. Overall I’m happy for what I got for what I paid. The board looks very sleek too and feels like a quality piece.

Is this motherboard not completely black? I noticed that some of it looks like a dark navy color.

The Gigabyte B850I AORUS PRO AM5 Mini-ITX Motherboard, B&H # GIB850IAORSP, is black; the lighting environment where the photos were taken, post-processing, or a setting on your device could potentially make it look more of a navy color.
