Never be without power in the field with this B&H Kit that combines a Sound Devices 833 Multitrack Field Recorder with a dual-bay battery charger, 98Wh smart battery, a battery cup for connecting the improved battery to your recorder, and a carrying bag. This battery offers superior energy density and weight compared to the standard NP-1.
For filmmakers, field recordists, and sound designers who need pristine audio capture of up to eight microphones, Dante I/O, convenient automixing, and safe, redundant recording, the Sound Devices 888 multitrack field recorder is an ideal tool that puts the essence of the flagship Scorpio into a more compact and affordable form.
32-bit A/D converters allow you to avoid distortion and undue noise at virtually any input level. Utilize the internal 256GB SSD and up to two SD cards to record up to 16 tracks of external sources plus four buses at up to 192 kHz, and route custom mixes to the camera and crew while driving headphones and a headset.
Thanks to its handles and integrated 1/4"-20 threads, the 888 can be placed in a sound bag, attached to a camera/tripod, or even slung from a shoulder/neck strap. In addition to the large channel knobs, channel trims, PFL switches, and transport joystick, a sunlight-readable color touchscreen ensures user-friendly access to all settings.
From the eight high-gain, ultralow-noise mic/line preamps and 16-channel Dugan Automixing to the extremely powerful routing and sonic processing, everything about the 888 is optimized for peak audio performance and maximum workflow efficiency.
Accurate timecode synchronization and numerous powering options make the 888 adept at handling the varied demands of modern productions. For enhanced operating convenience, you can control the 888 wirelessly from the SD-Remote Android app, a Sound Devices CL-12 controller, or a compatible USB-connected MIDI controller.
Independently switchable polarity, multistage limiting, 3-band EQ (pre- or post-fade), and low-cut filtering allow you to tailor each channel for the best tone. Plus, eight channel fader knobs and eight channel trims with LED rings ensure fast mixing on the fly.
For tactile mixing and transport control, connect a Sound Devices CL-12 or a compatible USB MIDI controller such as the Icon Platform M+/X+/B+, the Behringer X-Touch, or the Mackie MCU Pro.
- The A20-Mini transmitter introduces GainForward, a new feature that eliminates the need to adjust microphone preamplifier gain at the wireless transmitter. Audio levels from the transmitter are controlled either directly at the mixer’s trim control or at the wireless receiver.
- When the A10-RX receiving an A20-Mini signal is slotted into an SL-2 or SL-6, the A10-RX Input menu settings are bypassed and all gain, low cut, and limiter activity are performed and controlled by the 833, 888, or Scorpio. Trim gain range is 0 to 60 dB for the 8-Series channel receiving signal from the A20-Mini.
- A10-RX Receiver Setup screens show limiter, high-pass filter, and clipping status of the associated 8-Series channel when receiving signal from the A20-Mini.
- Jam A20-Mini timecode from 8-Series using a standard USB Type-A to USB Type-C cable from Menu > Timecode/Sync > Jam A20-Mini.
- New SuperSlot menu option “Use Transmitter Names” automatically applies the A10-TX and A20-Mini transmitter names to the associated 8-Series Track Name.
Make sure your Sound Devices Scorpio Mixer-Recorder never runs out of battery power with the XL-SmartCharger. This dual-bay battery charger/calibrator is designed to accommodate two XL-SmartBatteries or two Inspired Energy N-Series batteries at a time. Pair this charger with extra batteries to ensure that when you're in the field, your Scorpio is always ready to record.
The 98Wh, 14.4V Hi-Q Portable Lithium-Ion Battery from Remote Audio features a sophisticated circuitry that balances the charging and discharging of the internal cells, and communicates with the chargers and devices it is powering.
The Hi-Q battery is small and lightweight, and lasts a long time when compared to an NP-1 style battery. At 98 watt-hours, the Hi-Q battery has 30% more capacity than a lithium NP-1, while being smaller and lighter overall. The Hi-Q battery uses the Inspired Energy standard and contact configuration, so it is interchangeable with products made for this same standard.
The Remote Audio REM HIQCS1 is a Hi-Q cup to TA-4 connector. But what does this mean? Well, the company's line of Meon power supplies now forsake NP-1 batteries for Hi-Q smart batteries; these smart batteries use sophisticated circuitry to balance the charging and discharging of internal cells for an increased performance over conventional lithium NP-1 batteries.
The Hi-Q cup provided in this connector allows you to seat the aforementioned battery. The TA4F-B termination facilitates connection to the Sound Devices Scorpio, 888, and 833 portable mixer-recorders. Its cable measures 18".
- Hi-Q Smart Battery to TA4F-B
- 4-wire configuration for power and smart-battery telemetry
- Compatible with Sound Devices Scorpio, 888, and 833 portable mixer-recorders
- Not Compatible with BDSv4, BDSv4U, or earlier DBS systems
The K-Tek Stingray Small-X with orange interior is a professional audio bag designed for use with the Sound Devices 833 and 888 recorders and the SL-2 dual superslot module for wireless receivers. Also compatible with older Sound Devices recorders including the 633, the bag provides sound engineers with a professional carrying solution that offers easy access to the recorder.
The Stingray Small-X features an improved removable soft grip and is constructed with a rigid frame that allows the bag to better stand on its own while protecting equipment. Solid 3/8 and 1/4" attachment points on the frame allow you to connect accessories including antennas and magic arms for cell phones and tablets. The front flap opens for access to the recorder's controls, while color-coded zippers help you locate gear quickly on set.
The removable shoulder strap helps you carry the gear, while the built-in kickstand allows the bag to sit at an angle when placed on a tabletop or on the ground. Tough yet lightweight, the Stingray Small-X bag is ready for use in a wide variety of location recording environments and includes a rain cover / carrying bag to protect your gear and conceal the contents.
